"Your wife don't play when she shops, does she?" is the comment I overheard my upstairs neighbor ask my hubby when we returned from a grocery shopping adventure. I can't blame him. We did go shopping and yes, yes I did get a bit excited. Walmart had ten-pound bags of leg quarters for 3.50 per BAG. Last month they were nearly $8 per bag. So, I did what any good, frugal wife would do. I bought 50 pounds of chicken. The poor cart we use to carry things bent under the weight and barely got us and all our groceries home ![]() He's already tossing out excuses to not stick around tomorrow. He knows I'm not playing tomorrow either. Tomorrow I plan to get up bright and early and break all that meat down into single-meal portions. 30 pounds of that chicken will be boiled and de-boned before being re-frozen for making quick casseroles and other meals. I'll keep two bags worth uncooked. I'll jut clean it and separate the legs from thighs and put in bags for roasting and bbqing. Did I mention I found 5 pork loins under $10 each...they can all be cut into three portions making 15 meals. Hubby dared me to figure out how to get all this in the tiny freezer. Taking all the chicken off the bones will help. I need to deal with all the produces as well. Things need to be cleaned, chopped and bagged. I like to prep all my products so that when I am ready to use them, it's ready to go. I remember it wasn't all that long ago I could do all my shopping in the mornings and get all my prep done when I got home. Now it takes two days ![]() ![]() ![]() Good news is, aside from a very few items I've completed my entire month's shopping in one big trip. It was kinda fun riding on the metro bus and talking to several people! Now, I'm exhausted and have a feeling I will sleep very well tonight ![]() |
