they told me the key
was in the heart,
so I cut mine open and
reached in to find
a skeleton key--
bloody,
silvered,
just the right size
to unlock my desires.

I used it and found books
by all my favorite authors,
and dragons, soaring, roaring, flaming
and chocolate
and yarn in all my favorite colors
and beads, those pretty, evil things
and a cure for diabetes
and music
and dancing
and true love taking my hand
to lead me into eternity,
