At Least tomorrow

It will probably be tomorrow before I finish the WDC Short Story for this month. I wasn’t quite as far along as I thought I was after working on this Short Story. After all, I thought that I was about halfway through this Short Story, but it was closer to around eight hundred words that I had written yesterday instead of a thousand.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have too much time today to work on this project. I did have a few hours to work on it, and I got about five hundred more words written for this Short Story. I still have about seven hundred words left to write before I finish writing this Short Story. That’s why I have written, it will be tomorrow to finish it if I’m lucky.

Don’t get me wrong. This Short Story isn’t taking as long as I usually take when I’m doing it at home during my days off from work. I can usually get it done by the end of the weekend, if I do it at work, but it can take a lot longer than that when I do it at home.

Why isn’t it taking me as long to write this Short Story? I think it’s because I’m free-writing it. What do I mean by free-writing this Short Story? It means that I haven’t set it up into Sections/Parts like I usually do with my. I’m letting my finger dictate what I’m writing.

A lot of writers work this way. They have an idea for a Short Story, Novel, etc., but they don’t plan it out in any way. Well, that isn’t exactly the truth. Most writers don’t just sit down and start writing a Short Story, Novel, etc., until it’s finished. They do plan it out to some degree, but that degree isn’t anything like I usually write a Short Story.

I usually plan my short stories with ten Parts/Sections for each one. Sometimes it’s less than ten Sections/Parts, and sometimes it’s one or two more, but it’s normally ten Parts/Sections. This Short Story isn’t like them. I didn’t write a three or four-paragraph synopsis like in typically do, and I didn’t write any sentences for these Sections/Parts.

Of course, sometimes these sentences change. Sometimes there is only a little bit of a change in these Parts/Sections, and sometimes there are a lot of changes in them. It’s sort of like what I’m doing with this Short Story. I know what I want to write in these Sections/Parts, but sometimes when I’m writing a Short Story, my mind has a mind of its own.

As far as I know, my brother and I don’t have anything we need to get done tomorrow. If that’s true, I may have about four to six hours to finish writing this WDC Short Story. Will I get it finished tomorrow? I think that I have a very good chance that I will get it done tomorrow.

The sooner I get this WDC Short Story finished, the sooner I will be getting back to my scriptwriting projects. I may return to do that tomorrow, but if it is tomorrow, I probably won’t get too much written that day. Hopefully, it will be enough to finish writing this WDC Short Story.
