There is a lot within me Other Than Scriptwriting. This blog is devoted to those stories. |
No Scriptwriting for This Weekend? Just before I went to sleep last night, I checked to see if either prompt came through for the two possible short stories that I may be writing this month. I wasn’t surprised to find the WDC Short Story prompt that had been posted soon after I posted my last blog entry, just before midnight WDC time. That happens a lot with this prompt. I didn’t have the chance to copy this prompt into a new Word Document until this morning, after I woke up, but I did have before I went to sleep to think about it. Unfortunately, I had some problems with this prompt. Of course, after looking at this Short Shot image, I knew this wasn’t going to be a Science Fiction Short Story this month either. True, I still could make this a Science Fiction Short Story. After all, there are lots of planets that are similar or almost exactly alike Earth as depicted in this image. Still, everyone would consider it a Short Story about Earth, whether it’s in the present, the past, or the future. I don’t want them to think of it that way. They do that with all my Science Fiction short stories, but this one is different because of this image. Speaking of this image, I had some problems coming up with a story to fit it. I love a challenge, and this was a big challenge to me this month, but I did come up with a Short Story that will fit this image. At least I think that I have done it. While I was setting up my tablet for what I would be watching this weekend at work, I was thinking about what I would be writing for the WDC Short Story Contest for this month. I also have been staring at this Short Shot image, trying to come up with a Short Story for this image. It was while I was getting ready for work that I thought of it. I even tried to remember some of my Science Fiction adventures that I could use for this WDC prompt, and I came up with several of them, but I’m not going to use them. After all, I don’t want the judges or anyone else who reads it to think this is a Science Fiction Short Story about Earth or one of Earth’s colonizations. The judges and readers may think this way anyway. After all, the Short Story I will be writing this weekend will have some elements of a Science Fiction Short Story. At least it will have some reference to it. It’s not a Science Fiction Short Story, but because SpaceFaction is writing it, the judges and readers may think that it is. Will I get this Short Story finished by the end of this weekend? I have written similar short stories at work over the weekend a few other times. So, there is a very good chance that I can also probably do it this weekend. I may even get it done soon enough for me to return to my scriptwriting project this weekend if I decide to do that. As of the writing and posting of this blog entry, there still isn’t any prompt for the second Short Story that I may be writing this month. Of course, it’s still early in the month. So, it could still come out. After all, I still haven’t been reviewed with last month’s entry, or a post about last month’s contest being closed, or an upcoming prompt yet. |
