There is a lot within me Other Than Scriptwriting. This blog is devoted to those stories. |
Not A Wasted Day, But… I messed up again, but it happened in a good way for once. After all, I finished writing the sentence phase of my DeathBringers scriptwriting project. It was a mess-up, but it was a good one. I was about to start writing this blog entry about what I was going to do next because I didn’t think the latest WDC Short Story prompt had been posted yet. I should have checked my Favorite Folder on WDC not so long ago. Then I would have known this prompt had already been posted. Why didn’t I think of that sooner? The only reason why I didn’t it’s because I was working last night. As a result, I couldn’t check my Favorite Folder until I got off of work and got some sleep today. I did check the WDC website while at work last night, soon after midnight, but I’m limited in going there on my phone. After all, I don’t have any internet at work. So, I can’t use my tablet or computer. I can only use my phone, and that doesn’t give me full access to my websites. It does to some degree, but not enough for this website. I checked the website several times overnight, but I did it through The Hub and through the Contests link. It didn’t occur to me to check the Favorites Folder then. Unfortunately, it didn’t occur to me to do it after I got home from work. I continued to check it after I got home from work, but I went back to checking the same two links. I don’t know why, but it suddenly occurred to me that I might as well check my Favorite Folder. After all, it usually gets my posts before The Hub and Contests links. That’s when I realized this WDC Short Story prompt was posted at one forty WDC time. As soon as I realized this, I clicked it to see what the prompt was for this month. I wasn’t sure if I would be doing this Short Story this month. Not because it’s not Science Fiction, I still could remember a Short Story to find this prompt. No, it’s because I’m not funny. I am spontaneous, funny, Don Rickles funny. I’m not the kind of funny that writes funny. Most people don’t get my sense of humor, verbally or in writing. I have had some reviews that say what I have written is funny and has made them laugh. I’m not surprised about that. After all, that’s the spontaneous side of my humor, but that’s not what I thought this Short Story should be about. Once I thought about it for a while, I realized this Short Story doesn’t have to be a comedy literally. I am going to write this Short Story. Only it’s not going to be Comedy per se. There may be some Comedy within it, but if there is, it will be spontaneous like most of my other short stories, novels, scripts, etc. I am going to write this Short Story about a young woman who wants to be a Stand-up comic despite what her family and friends tell her. I will be writing this Short Story about her, but it will be more of a behind-the-scenes Short Story than a stage Comedy display type of Comedy. At least that’s what I’m hoping it will be. That’s debatable when it comes to me. After all, I do write my short stories spontaneously. My novels, scripts, etc., are planned out, but not my short stories. I do plan out my short stories somewhat, but as I am writing them, that planning goes out the window. It also happens with my other writing, but not as much as it does with my short stories. Sometimes, I lose control of a Short Story that I’m writing. These short stories don’t happen too often, but they do happen. Will this be one of those short stories? |
