In both languages I was able to read classics due to a large library situated within reach.

Hindi, our national language too had several reputed poets. I paid attention to them as well.
The three of years of my college life just flew away in a flash. Those were truly pleasure winged days. I did well in all my subjects namely, Political Science, Economics and English Literature.

Till today, I remember, Mrs. Walters, who took the Nineteenth century literature classes is on my mind. Her delineation of Heathcliff, Hindley and Catherine Earnshaw made a deep impression on my young mind. Heathcliff’s character came alive in her classes with his destructive bond with Catherine and his revenge against them all including the Lintons.

Among the poets I studied during this period, were all the poets of the Romantic period stand apart from others. These were the poets whose lines of immortal poetry were deeply etched on my mind.

Byron’s “She walks in beauty” wherein the point is to state the importance of inner beauty and the physical beauty, all the five Odes of Keats, an artist par excellence and Shelley’s “Ode to the West Wind” which was uniquely shown as destroyer and preserver, are a few to cite. Christopher Marlowe was a wonderful poet with excellent imagery and poetic thought. His “Hero and Leander” was an in depth study for us.

Another important poem that made a deep impact on me was S.T. Coleridge’s “Christabel” an unfinished, impressive poem. It really
