Introducing a New Item Type: Sheets

We’re introducing something completely new to Writing.Com:

         Sheets (Beta)!

Sheets are collaborative spreadsheet-style items that now live right inside your Portfolio.

You can use them to organize information, track projects, plan stories, manage submissions, build logs, create charts, collaborate with groups, and a whole lot more.

This has been a major project built entirely in-house from scratch specifically for Writing.Com, and we’re really excited to finally put it into your hands.

What Can You Use Sheets For?

  Word count tracking
  Story bibles and planning
  Character relationship grids
  Contest scoring
  Submission tracking
  Schedules, lists, logs, and charts
  Collaborative group projects

  Multiple sheet tabs within a workbook
  200+ built-in formulas and functions
  Real-time collaboration with live editing indicators
  Charts and data visualization tools
  XLSX and CSV import/export support
  Undo/redo, comments, notes, merged cells, freeze panes, and more WritingML support directly inside cells

Who Can Use Sheets?

Creating and editing Sheets requires an Upgraded Membership or higher.

Upgraded Members: 10 Sheets
Premium Members: 25 Sheets
Premium+ Members: 50 Sheets

Sheets shared with Group Edit Access can also be collaboratively edited by group members.

How Do I Create One?

Click + Create Something and choose the new Sheets item type.

If you don’t see it immediately, refresh your page. It’s brand new. 😊

This is a Beta

Sheets are already very functional, but this is still a beta release and we fully expect to continue refining and improving things as members begin using it in real-world ways.

If something looks wrong, behaves unexpectedly, or simply feels confusing, please let us know: "Bug Reporting" . Feedback, bug reports, accessibility notes, and feature suggestions are all incredibly valuable while we continue polishing the system.
