|Chapter 1 ; Meet The Author
Hello! Thank you for your interest in my book.
I was born with cerebral palsy in 1963 and I am one of a family of 6. I have two sisters, and one of them is my twin who went to heaven 3 days after we were born. I cannot wait to meet her someday in the future. The older I get the more I think about the sister that is a part of me. However, I am sure my younger sweet sister,Tricia, the one that I know and love so much, will forever be my favorite. Tricia has an unfailing and unconditional love and support of me and only lives 10 minutes away.
I have an older brother, Fred who now lives in the state of Tennesee. The last time I was able to be with him was the weekend of my wedding and my life changed forever. He wanted to witness his little brother get married and I am sure that it took him by supprise. I miss my big brother and wish that he would move back to California.
I live in the state of California, in the same city where I was born and raised. My Dad and I still live in the same house I grew up in.
I graduated from high school in 1983 a year and a half later than I should due to health reasons. However, God is good in mapping my destintion that everything worked out well at the end just the way I wanted it. I was so greatly blessed to be able to share all my school days with my younger sister and we graduated together too. Having her with me made my graduation extra special and one of the most enjoyable event in my life.
I am a real big Star Trek fan and a major trekkie. My desire to write was first fueled by my love and passion for StarTrek which was one of the very first Si-Fi TV shows that I remember as a very young child of about 4 or 5 years of age. I was also fascinated by yet another Si-Fi TV show, "Lost in Space". Maybe someday I will try and follow that dream also.
However, I believe that with my experience of living life ON 4 FLAT TIRES, I will be able to educate people to be more accepting and compassionate with their attitude towards people with a disability.
Another old favourite TV show of mine was HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN, starring Michael Landon, one of the best writers ever. I pray that I may have enough natural talent and gift to write and become a published author. I hope and pray to God to bless me with that gift so I can give it back to him in his glorious name. When I see a movie or a TV show of my favour, I often wonder if I could have done a better job of writing the script.
When I first thought of attempting to write this book, I only have one regret and that is wasting so many years not starting this little project. I could have completed my book years ago but hey, ‘’better late then never,’’ as that old saying goes.
I got married at the age of 40 years old on Saturday June 12th 2004. I was beginning to wonder if or when my dream of marriage would actually eventuate but I never give up hope of seeing my dream come true. Sometimes it is hard to believe that I have been married to such a beautiful and wonderful wife for the past 6 years. I guess time does fly by when you are having such fun, ha haaaa! I will say more about my wife and how we met in a later chapter. She is and always will be one of the greatest blessings that I have ever received from God.
The search for my special woman took many long years. I started looking for her in 1989, six years after I graduated from high school. I started by writing to women in the Philippines as Pen Pals. During this time, I learnt to enjoy writing but that ended in 1997. I stopped looking for about 4 years however, I have never been the kind of man that would give up easily. After feeling rested but still anxious, I got dusted off and got back on the horse and never regret I did. I like a good hard fight because my parents did not raise a whimp. My faith in The Lord Jesus Christ keeps me strong. With him by my side, I can do whatever he has in-store for me.
My Pastor and friend, Michael Ray, a true man of God is a Published Author and he is my hero inspirer. I have been blessed with the honour and privilege of his friendship, love and support for the past 24 years of my life and what a great influence. I want to supprise him with my effort to join him in the writer's club of published authors and make him proud of a dedicated and committed follower of his preaching. I wish the message of God's love and hope as he work through my life can enlighten people who are non-believers in God's Greatness and Holiness be saved. I believe that I am not alone in this journey and I thank my God, my family and my friends who supports me in this endeavour. I am determine to accomplish my mission for you all.
Please stay tuned for the rest of my story in the chapters to follow, "the good, the bad and the in-between'.
