Historical Event That Happened When I Was Born

Prompt: What historical event happened after you were born?

I was born Dec. 21, 1955. So this is 11 days before Jan. 1, 1956. All I could find was: Sudan declares independence from Egypt. Fire damages top part of Eiffel Tower. Jordan Government refuses to join pact with Bagdad. Not very exciting. I was glad to grow up in the 60's and 70's. I didn't like that President Kennedy got killed. The Viet Nam was going on. When I was born, I didn't find anything too historical after I was born. The first few years anyway. This is all I have.

Added information:
Some blogging friends wrote me that I forgot to mention that Einstein had died, Rosa Parks refused to get off the bus{a black woman when blacks had limited rights} and McDonalds first opened up. Maybe it wasn't boring when I was born. I thank my friends.
