The Balcony

The fading light draws me outside,
the landscape calls to me.
A gentle breeze acts as my guide
to spring time's fantasy.

The leaves unfurling in the trees,
in shades from dark to light,
recall bright sails upon the seas;
a buccaneer's delight.

The hyacinths in tended rows
of lavender and pink,
their blossoms folding as they doze
so fairy-folk can drink.

A pond reflects the colored sky
as frogs begin their song.
The whisper of the wind, once shy,
adds its voice to the throng.

The magic of a balcony
can only be defined
by each of us as fantasy
is nurtured in our mind.
