I was five years old and I had a crush on Johnny Yuma who played "The Rebel." I loved the show and I loved Nick Adams. I didn't know what handsome meant but what ever the word meant, it applied to him. I would watch that show and Johnny Yuma was my hero. He was a peace maker and fought for freedom. The Civil War was over and he tried to make others remember that. He dressed like a southern soldier but that was part of his character. I had an uncle who looked like him and that made him special. Too bad Nick Adams died young. I am not sure how he died. I would play Johnny Cash's album that had Johnny Yuma on it and sing along with it. I about wore the album out. Johnny Yuma was a hero and my first crush. I get to watch my rebel cowboy every Saturday morning now and I still have a crush on him. Long live Johnny Yuma. Johnny Cash was one of my top favorite singers as well.
