| let me see again. let my eyes open wide to drink in the beauty around me, the color of a hibiscus, the majesty of an oak standing tall and golden against the sky. let me see again— let me look into the soft brown eyes of a puppy, the cool blue of my lover who sees me like no other woman in the world. let me see again. let me gaze into a mirror and remember the lines of laughter the lines of pain, and connect them again with memory. let my eyes regain their innocence and see as though everything was new—too long have my eyes been dark with age and cynicism and grief and pain.
