Day Room

The numbers on the clock
in the day room
are black beacons,

silently signaling
the haze gray minutes
as they pass in review.

The sign
attached to the white wall
announces: USS Guadalupe,

I set motionless
stari8g out the window
as one by one planes descend.

Their steep descent
carries the below
the sand colored wall

of the hospital's other wing.
One by one they disappear
never to be seen again.
