The wind blew
from different directions
uprooting trees
and tearing doors off hinges.

The wind
drove sheets of rain
into the city,
onto the college campus,
and across the interstate highway...
in several directions
at once.

The trees
that weren't uprooted
were flattened to the ground.

We were stranded!

Power lines
and poles
were knocked down.

Electricity went off
and auxiliary power
came on.
