The 4th of July at Lake Carl Blackwell
The 4th of July At Lake Carl Blackwell

Reflecting the 4th of July sky,
blue waves washed onto the warm sand,
like curse bearing angles
three years in a row.

The warm waters of Lake Carl Blackwell
pulled at Tom's struggling body,
only to be robbed of its prey
by my observant grandfather.

Bacon grease sizzled
in a frying pan on a portable camp stove,
Linda's small hand grabbed the skillet's handle
spill the hot grease on her delicate pink flesh.

The red cherry bomb exploded
shooting a medium sized rock
directly into Connie Mac's right eye.

Reflecting the 4th of July sky,
blue waves washed onto the warm sand,
like curse bearing angles
three years in a row.
