Fickle World

We are but one step away from ruination.
The road of life can cast us
Through a maze of intricate paths
The way we go may not always take us where we think it will
One day you're in
The next you're out
One moment you are the hottest thing
The next you are cast aside
Disposed of like worthless trash.
Without an anchor to ground us
We bob on the sea of social judgement
And deal with the pressure to shine
The Public is fickle
And changes with the times
It can put you on a pedestal
And sing your praises one day
Then cut you down with brutal criticism the next.
You could be forgotten altogether
Promises mean very little
In this world of dog eat dog
If the world does not like what you have or what you stand for
It will leave you and turn its back
Leaving you cold and decrepit
A sad state of affairs.
Step wisely and take care
Find your anchor
And hold on tight
It could be a bumpy ride.
