| Beyond the walls of my confinement, Where darkness has pulled the blinds And fear slinks 'round corners and binds me; Spring has sprung in all her glory. Dancing colours and vibrant greens flutter in the breeze. Damp earth awakens, the scent heavenly. My parched soul threatens to break free; To run naked through the velvet leaves; To feel the newness brush against me, Bringing me new life and infusing my weakened bones With renewed strength and vitality. I breathe in the bliss of this freshness Fill my lungs with the tangy sweetness And feel myself begin to bloom Fortifying me, repairing me, So that I too, can be whole and free again. Lines = 16. Form: Free verse. Notes ▶︎ ![]() |
