Invisible matters of the mind turned real into the written word.
Jack’s head wasn’t on straight
Making evil a thing hard to see.
His eyes lit up when he realized
A black cat had crossed his path
Bringing bad luck as sure as could be.
Mist curled, the night grew darker.
Shadows danced within the gloom.
Jack felt himself plucked right up
Within skeletal arms, head turned right,
His eyes turned into lantern light.
The cat rode on Death’s gaunt shoulders.
Jack hung glaring from the specter's side.
A cauldron of bats came calling
Searching for prey lost and beleaguered
In fear, trembling amid sad, lonely sighs.
The midnight hour beckoned.
The dead rolled over within their graves.
A cold wind shivered naked tree limbs
Where a desperate scene unraveled, displayed.
Nightmares pranced, mad dreams raced.
Silent Death rode one of them
The stead’s hooves struck sparks of lightning
Heating the air to a fiery glow of red.
Jack smiled an evil smile knowing what came next.
Someone was going to lose their mindless head.
