There are so many cool things going on right now! The deadline for "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" [E] is fast approaching! You can't beat those prizes! I don't remember ever writing up official resolutions, but I found it very eye-opening to do it this year. It really helped me put some things in perspective and to realize my goals. I'm feeling very motivated and optimistic about 2008! poisonivy and I are about to celebrate our birthday! Every year, we hold a contest to help us commemorate the event:
And the deadline for polls is coming up for:
This contest looks really cool:

I haven't been blogging much lately, so here are some jokes that were emailed to me this morning: In the front yard of a funeral home, "Drive carefully, we'll wait." In a nonsmoking area, "If we see you smoking, we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action." On a maternity room door, "Push, Push, Push." On a front door, "Everyone on the premises is a vegetarian except the dog." At an optometrist's office, "If you don't see what you're looking for, you've come to the right place." On a taxidermist's window, "We really know our stuff." On a butcher's window, "Let me meat your needs." On a fence, "Salesmen welcome. Dog food is expensive." At a car dealership, "The best way to get back on your feet -- miss a car payment." Outside a muffler shop, "No appointment necessary. We'll hear you coming." On a desk in a reception room, "We shoot every 3rd salesman, and the 2nd one just left." In a veterinarian's waiting room, "Be back in 5 minutes. Sit! Stay!" In a Beauty Shop, "Dye now!" On the side of a garbage truck, "We've got what it takes to take what you've got." (Burglars please copy.) In a restaurant window, "Don't stand there and be hungry, come in and get fed up." Inside a bowling alley, "Please be quiet. We need to hear a pin drop." In a cafeteria, "Shoes are required to eat in the cafeteria. Socks can eat any place they want." Happy Tuesday! |
I've finally written my entry for Round 1 of "Tourn-a-Rounds" [ASR]. I'm still editing a bit. I absolutely love puns, but I don't think I'm very good at writing them... Still, I had fun!
I've been so busy lately! It's a new month, so our new issue is out, of course. My birthday contest will open soon (poisonivy and I have celebrated our birthday each year with a contest. The theme changes every year, and we have so much fun judging!), so keep an eye out for it! My health hasn't been so great lately. I'm attributing it to stress. It's really crazy what havok stress can create on your body. I'm getting really tired of it... literally. It exhausts me. The anxiety is lessening, though, and I'm finding day-to-day stuff going more smoothly. I just have to allow myself to relax more, you know? I hope you're all doing well and having a good 2008 so far! |
I'm very interesting in traditions and superstitions. Around here, we eat pork & sauerkraut on New Year's Day for good luck. Does anyone else do anything like that? I had boneless pork chops and sauerkraut cooking in my slow cooker all day and I've made mashed potatoes to go with it. I'm still working on perfecting my potatoes. My Mom always made them with butter and milk, but my MIL adds sour cream, too. Mine aren't quite as good as either's yet, but I have hope. Happy New Year! |
What happened to stomper??? Why's he gone? Does anyone know what happened to him? Well... I guess if he wanted me to know, he would have told me. I don't want to pry, but I considered him a friend, so I was shocked to find him gone. It's the last day of the month plus a holiday, so I'm quite busy today. Be on the lookout for my new C&A Newsletter this week! And a new round of "Invalid Item" will open on Wednesday! |
Merry Christmas!! I want to know how many of you still have trouble sleeping Christmas Eve. Because my sister said something the other day like, "I hope I can sleep!" And I talked to my Mom yesterday, asking what time we should be at her house Christmas morning to exchange gifts. She said, "We're normally up by 7 or so, but I know we'll be up really early Christmas morning," implying that they wouldn't be able to sleep in. I wanted to go back to sleep after my alarm went off this morning, and I couldn't help thinking, "Am I the only one who can sleep on Christmas Eve?" I slept 10 hours last night! Most of you know that I have a twin sister. We'd always struggle to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. We'd swear we were going to try to stay up to see Santa come to the house. Eventually we'd make a little too much noise, and our Mom would yell, "Go to bed!" (It's hard not to make noise when you live in a trailer home!) We'd fall asleep eventually, and nearly every year, Traci would wake me up at some terrible early hour in the morning! She'd wake me up and say, "It's Christmas!!" Immediately, I'd yell at her for waking me up because it felt like I had just fallen asleep! Then we'd go look at our presents. She'd show me where the hidden ones were. (I don't think other parents hid presents; that was just our Dad - he'd hide them like they were Easter Eggs.) We were allowed to open anything in our stockings before our parents got up. Sometimes they'd hear us sorting through stuff and tell us to go back to bed (depending on the time), but eventually they'd get up, too. We'd open our gifts, with Dad giving hints on where presents were hidden around the living room and kitchen (and sometimes the porch!), and then we'd all get dressed and go to Gram's for breakfast. There my aunts, uncles and cousins (from Mom's side) would be gathered. We'd exchange gifts and eat a very early lunch. Then we'd go back home and play for the rest of the day, until my Dad's parents came over in the evening. Every year there seem to be less and less people at the Christmas gatherings, due to work, other family dinners, passings on, etc. (I dreamt about my Dad's Mom last night, maybe it was her wishing me a Merry Christmas.) Anyway, I just wanted to share some of my own memories and to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! |
I think I'm coming down with a sinus cold. Bleh. Check out these awesome activities!
That's all, folks. |
My sis has been writing about fashion lately, and we found a trend in blogging. Some women post photos of what they wear each day. It sounded like fun, so we both started blogs. What's cool to me is the difference between my twin and I with fashion and style. Of course, she works in an office all day and I'm home, so I'm free to dress as wild as I want. We typically have different style, though. Anyway, here are our blogs: (Blogspot is awesome for blogging with photos!) http://interdisciplinarysuperwoman.blogspot.com/ http://unorthodoxliving.blogspot.com/ I'm getting my hair cut today, so I'll hopefully have new photos to share soon! |
