The best way I know of to count my blessings is to keep a daily journal recording the best thing about each day. I thought it might be nice if we had a community journal here at WDC where anyone could enter the "best thing" about their day. Believe me, whenever you're blue, or lonely, or not feeling well, it is wonderful to go back and read the journal entries. One day it might be something material and the next spiritual - whatever strikes your fancy. So please, be my guest and join me in a wonderful journalling experience. | The best thing(s) about today is: Me - I cleaned myself up and did my hair. It was time - the neighbors complained. The Spring Festival was a huge success and the weather was great. I wasn't well enough to go but Bob got me a whole bunch of "fair food". Many, many friends, out for the festival, stopped by to say hello and,. apparently I'm not the only one who gained weight over the winter.  A lovely friend brought us two beautiful urns for the front porch. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Our front porch - it's all done and decked out for the holiday weekend!!!!! ictures coming. I feel much better - no fever today! Bob Bob Bob |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I remembered to make an entry - I was in bed and got up. Barbara - My friend, who's a nurse, taking such good care of me all day. Strawberry Ice Pops Hair clips - without them I'd be a mess! |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Petunias - red, white and blue (well, actually, deep purple) The front of the house looks really nice. Geraniums - red and white in big pots and small pots. The flag is flying and the bunting goes up tomorrow! Bedtime -nitey-nite. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Our dogwood tree - it just keeps getting better and better. Most of them are pink but this one is white. Naps - I still have the cold so I took two of them today. Neighbors - Our next door neighbor baked a cake and brought over two big slices. Reviews - I went back and read all of the reviews I have received. I now have a very large head and a very good feeling. |
| The best things(s) about today is: Today is my Dad's birthday. Of course he's been gone for many years now but it is still a day to celebrate. As I rested in bed today (I have a cold) there was a cool spring breeze coming through the window and the sound of it gently lulled me to sleep. I remember thinking dreamily, "I must write this down" because it was so pleasant. Bob spoiled me all day - juice and tea and cookies - all on a tray! That wonderful feeling of rolling over and going back to sleep when you don't want to get up - for anything! |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Church - today was the May crowning. It was beautiful and, surprise, very well attended. Flats full of flowers all over the front porch - waiting to be planted. My daughters, who went to the Preakness, are home safe and sound. Casey won $110. and Susan won thousands even though she had no idea what she was doing! Bob hung the wind chimes on the porch this morning - they are beautful - about 3 feet high (or is it long?). roast beef for dinner and chocolate cupcakes for dessert. Yum. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: We went to a birthday party! It was so much fun - they had a complete casino there and we played all the games with play money and then won prizes. Blakjack is definitely not my game. I love my husband - he looked so handsome all dressed up. I received a merit badge for inner beauty from WBRadley!! I received an upgrade from WBRadley! I had a wonderful day! |
| My best thing(s) about today is: It was cold and bleak when I got up this morning but by the time we left the house it was warm and sunny. I bought beautiful summer-weight bed linens - a pale, lemony (sp.?) yellow. Baked macaroni and cheese for lunch -mmmm. Dinner with an old friend. I reviewed 8 WDC Army Angels. Violets are blooming everywhere. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I made it! I am 63 today! The phone rang all morning and evening with well wishers. My grandson sang to me and it was wonderful. I spoke to all the children - even George! I got flowers! Bob took me out for the day - we had lunch AND dinner out! I made it! I am 63 today! |
| My best thing(s) about today is: I woke up to a rainy day - not a stormy, windy day - just a nice steady rain. Calming and earthy. A friend came to see me and she baked me a cake! My son called this afternoon and he sounds wonderful. I received an awardicon from WBRadley - it was so exciting! And gps too! My sister called - we talked for two hours. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I woke up early - rolled over and went back to sleep {:smile} A friend came by and we sat on the front porch - we didn't even talk that much - it was just so nice to be there together. I saw a baby squirrel today - soooo cute - I don't think I've ever seen one before. Bob was on line today and he wouldn't let me in the room - I think I'm gonna get a surprise. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Directly across from my front porch is a whole row of cherry trees which are in full bloom - since I simply cannot describe how beautiful they are - I'll take a picture and post it tomorrow. The sky today was a very pale blue and not a cloud in sight. I could get lost in that sky. I started sewing new throw pillows for the front porch - white on white - so pretty. Bob and I watched Dancing with the Stars together tonight - we both love the show!! Me for the dancing - Bob, I suspect, for the beautiful girls! |
| the best thing(s) about today is: Happy Mother's Day! I had a wonderful day, I spoke with all my children and my grandson called and left a song on my voicemail for me. He's a treasure. Bob took me out to breakfast after Church and then we went for a drive. I chose to spend the day quietly so then we just came home and I took a big nap and he fixed dinner. Casey and Susan and I watched television together this evening (we all watch the same show and they both call me on each commercial break.) All the mommies at Church were given a beautiful flower this morning. On our drive we went up along the resevoir and all the trees are just starting to leaf out and it was beautiful. The mountains were reflected in the water, just intensifying the effect. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I went to church this morning and helped out with a youth group for young girls ages 6 to 10. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had. Our front porch is decked out in 5 beautiful hanging baskets - geraniums and white trailing lobelia. They look wonderful! Our town's high school prom was tonight and oh all the beautiful gowns and young men in their tuxedos . Most of the girls wore pastels this year, pink and blue and yellow and a beautiful mint green - they were all excited and full of energy. They looked almost like lollipops from afar. The lilacs are blooming - the scent is intoxicating. I'm intoxicated! |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I had a tangerine ice pop - and it was as good as it sounds - yum! I sat in the garden with my friend and we could hardly hear ourselves talk; the birds were apparently having a concert. It is amazing at all the different tones they produce if you take the time to listen for them. I have a wonderful new cookbook (I'm addicted to them) it's all about tomatoes. I've seen so many people these past few days - now that Spring is here everyone's out and about. It takes forever to run an errand because I have to stop and catch up with everyone I meet. My dear friend Barbara gave me an early b-day gift - a beautiful Lenox china trinket/music box that plays Amazing Grace - one of my favorites! |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I really need a touch-up but I just moved my part over a bit and - voila! I don't need a touch-up. The beautiful awardicon I received yesterday is from my secret pal - Thank You !! I received my first Mother's Day card today - it's really beautiful and very special - from a wonderful friend. I went for a pedicure!! It was wonderful. My toes are Fire Engine Red - It's so cheerful, they look like ten little, I don't know, - happies! It seems I meet someone new everyday at WDC. Twinkledee amd I are going to run a contest. Stay tuned for details. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: I saw my son today. He has a bad cold but he was still much better and we had a great visit. This blog received a beautiful awardicon from Sherri. I am so excited - it's a beautiful red ribbon. The trees are leafing out and it's breathtaking. We are in the valley with mountains on all 4 sides. Bob and I watched a robin collect twigs and such for a nest. There was a baby blue robin's egg in my driveway this morning, hatched open but empty. A new life! Today's almost over and so far it looks like I'm gonna get tomorrow too. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: The air - it smells so clean and fresh, like flowers and grass and, I don't know, just good. I had a wonderful time on my surprise trip. Bob spoiled me so much - we just got back a little while ago. I had a delicious black and white cookie, I think they're called Half Moons - it was like a trip back to my childhood. All the stars are out tonight, the sky is almost crowded. I wore hot pink sunglasses all day. |
| The best thing(s) about today is: Church - today was First Holy Communion. The children were beautiful and the service was really special. Pizza! The local diner got a pizza oven and we tried it today. It was great. Just like Brooklyn pizza. Bob made a beautiful business card for Demi Glace. I just found out I won't be around for a few days. I have a b-day later this month and Bob is taking me somewhere for a surprise - we're leaving in the morning. These days, I really love my life!! |
