This blog was created four years back when I was a novice and new in this odyssey of writing. Due to the juxtaposition of two opposite subjects sometimes I don't find enough time for writing. I am pursuing the degree of Bachelor in Education now. I am the author of 6 books, 3 poetry and 3 short stories and have upcoming ones. For details please visit www.koyelevergreen.wordpress.com

His Gift ( Cinquain)

Present
precious, nice
offered, taken, enjoyed
token of immortal fondness
Priceless.

The Lullaby(Haiku)

Mom sang a sweet song
I heard it with utmost fun
I then went to sleep.

Prompt #1 = Safety (2 points): "Have the word 'faded' somewhere in the poem"

Prompt #2 = Field Goal (3 points): "Have the phrase 'dreams of dark things' OR 'dreams of light things' somewhere in the poem"

Prompt #3 = Touchdown (6 points): "Use both prompts 1 & 2, and have the phrase 'reflections in the water' somewhere in your poem"

Bonus Prompt = Extra Kick (1 point): "Use prompt 3, and '6 stanzas long, 4 lines each stanza'."

A childhood that should have been filled
With happiness and joy becomes a
Ghoulish nightmare of a life time.
Memories of her brutal past
not faded leave an indelible
impression in her tender, delicate mind.
Her dreams of dark things
form a harsh reality when
she is robbed of her womanhood
by her beloved Dad.
Burning with shame and affliction,
she decides to end her life
by drowning herself in the river.
Then, she sees the reflections in
the water of two Angels
with halos above their heads,
imploring her to restrain herself
and inviting her to a Land of
peace, bliss and perpetual love.

Assignment
Write two poems, one using the count up form and one using the count down form. You are not allowed to write one poem and then reverse it, but you can use the same topic if you choose.

Your Love ( Count Up)
I
am glad
to love you
and will love you
till the end of life.
You have shone in my life
like a ever glowing lamp
and extending a firm promise
the light of which never decreases
and which is forever fortifying.

The Place of Dreams ( Count Down)
I want to go to a place where there are
trees with silver boughs and golden fruits,
large Elysian parks for children,
old people heave relief sighs,
nightingales sing sweetly,
lovers enjoy much,
no agony,
perfect mirth,
always,
life.

Assignment
Write a poem, three stanza’s long, using the Quintilla form. Any topic or genre can be chosen.

You inscribed on my heart that day,
Your marks of love with a warm kiss,
Your imprints remain till today.
My happy past fills me with bliss,
Void present kills me everyday.

The scars of your love injure me.
Like open wounds, the bruises bleed
And fill me with sheer agony,
Pricking me with your cruel deed.
Please come back and fill me with glee.

Please come back to me, hear my plea.
I simply can't live without you,
It is always you whom I see.
My love for you is pure and true.
I am waiting, come back to me.
