Rachel and her children are accidentally transported into another world where evil is real

This is an excerpt of a fantasy novel I am in the process of writing (first two chapters). It follows along the lines of Stephen R. Donaldson. A disillusioned attorney on the verge of losing her children to her ex-husband decides to escape to Belize to start a new life. Before she can start her journey, she and her children fall through a portal to another world and begin a journey unlike any other. A modern-day woman used to all the gadgets and technology of the 21st century must find a way to cope in a world without even the most basic necessities and try to figure out a way to get back to her own world, as evil stalks her through her journey.
