My life in a nutshell

I started out this life in a struggling family living in Michigan.  Modest but happy. Then life changed drastically: we moved to a fairly rural community.

Those big things weren't really big dogs, they were cows.  No, we don't have a park, this is our yard.  In the old neighborhood you could literally touch the people next door thru your side windows.  Now we had a "yard"!  Hard concept for a kid whose only experience with nature was in the alley behind her house.

Little did I understand at the time, but my parents had upgraded the lives of us all.  My father was getting his Ph.D. from a local college, while Mama
