A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Let's talk about memorable experiences in your life.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi. I thought I had done this. Talked about my life I mean.

Here is a new one to laugh about. I think it was 4th grade. The school nurser set up tent like apparatus in the hall outside our classroom. It turned out she was testing each students hearing. After she tested me she sent a note home with my dad. Next day dad showed up. She put me in the tent again with the buzzer and tested me with dad watching. The jist of this was, she was proving I can hear sounds above what most people expect to hear.

Now, I can often hear sounds of people who pray the rosary. Not necessarily able to identify the subject, about which they are praying, but the rhythm of sound waves as they move. Especially if more than one prays in sinc with each other. There is a rosary society in a town not to far away.

Grandma use to say itchy ears mean someone is talking about you.

Tinnitus is another way of catching sounds with your brain that you cannot necessarily identify. I've never studied sound in a very serious way. I have a belief not necessarily founded on anything I can show you. I believe each person can be identified by sounds or the waves in the air that sound makes.

How about this interesting thought? Can we be identified by Enoch as he lists us in his heavenly book by the sounds linked to our DNA?

Prompt: We're seeing more DUI (driving under the influence) related deaths. Do you feel the consequences are high enough or should they make them more severe? I know we all live in different areas, is it just in the states or is it problem where you live as well?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI!

I think it must be a problem all over the USA.
After the military started attacking drug carrying ships from South America I just kind of assumed it is an effort to stop the flow of drugs into our country because the public seems to be at a loss to stop it by themselves, within the states.

I'm kind of out of touch with how many accidents are in the area. We don't subscribe to news papers or even keep up to date with local news on TV. Although I have Facebook alerts for several nearby communities. Not too many accidents show up on those alerts. And when they do, the cause of the accident may not be listed or even the state of drivers and passengers may not be listed.

Reading " Slanted" an expose by Sharyl Attkinson, about the media. It tells a lot about how the public is missing the valuable contexts of news that use to be available to the public.

When I can't get here often I miss WDC news.

Spring is on its way.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi!

Do you remember Underwood Typewriters? How about hay rakes that had a rider and a dump lever? Pulled by a team of horses then refurbished to use with a tractor. Do you remember loose haystacks in the barn, then square bales, now round bales. How about congressional hearings about Dentists during Mr. Reagans presidency? Is this one accurate?

The snow melted some Tuesday this week and then froze to ice yesterday. Not as bad as the year the whole front yard was ice and my boys ice skated on the front yard. Not sure what year that was?

Olympics are interesting yesterday. 11 USA medals. I don't think I watched them in the last 4 years. The pipe has grown to 22 feet high. I still think luge sled hill would be fun to ride down.

Keep warm.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi. *Snow4*

Yes. I like Hot Chocolate. I have been drinking more of it this winter. I cannot drink it often. It leaves a heavy feeling inside me, that I don't appreciate. I put a day or two between cups. I think the chocolate and warmth is good for my energy levels.

I actually like warm water when I'm eating a meal or trying to keep warm. I discovered warm water is just as good as tea one day, when I ran out of tea.

I do like Oat stem tea as a tisane with lemon mint tea. I also like tea with strawberries dropped in it. Or blueberries. Oat stem tea is my regular go to drink whenever I need a pick me up. It is a mild flavored tea that mixes well with any kind of fruit. When I was a child helping dad in the hay field he taught me to chew on sticks of ripe green orchard grass to keep thirst away. Oat stem tea is similar in flavor to ripe orchard grass stems.

Yep, I'm a farm girl. Stay warm.
