A Memorial acrostic
By Steve Cope, brother.

A big blow!
Resulting in a huge low.
Death has taken our big sister.
It can’t be happening mister!
Then the reality sets in,
Here, her suffering does end.

Awakening in a better place,
Bustling hither and yon, yet not like a race.
Rest and peace are now possible, no more aching.
As Ardith, Pete, Mom and Red resume their reunion.
How can it be! Why did this happen?
All of it seems so misshapen?
Many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and friends,
Sense that we cannot bring her back, here it ends.
Etched in our collective memories,
Now in our hearts she will reside forever our Weegie.
Ardith Abrahamsen; wife, aunt, god mother, sister, daughter,
Has begun a new journey and we left behind on 01-09-2018, will carry on her memory and look forward to seeing her again in-the-sweet-bye-and-bye.

Flying through the air is a wondrous event.
Reeling in a big fish and watching it battle is invigorating.
Animals in the wild are so natural to see,
New born bear cubs frolicing and playing near a tree.
Cats meowing and singing their very own songs, not always
In harmony but forever in tune.
Every letter of your name began each line and now

Francie this is the end of your Acrostic in appreciation of you.

Francie in the Latin means "From France" and is a variation of the name Francis.

I STAND AMAZED
BY STEVE COPE

Thank you Lord for the cross You bore,
The one that has my blood mixed with Yours.
Though my sins were black as coal,
You freely came in and cleansed my soul.
And now I stand amazed.

I stand amazed.
I stand in awe.
God the creator has built a nation
And given His only Son for our salvation.

I stand in fear for I know
My Lord could eliminate many,
And yet I am serenely happy to know
That He loves me so.

You need only look. You need only seek.
You need only ask, and He shall give it you.
Ask it! Ask it! Ask God to be the Master of your Universe.
He will send the Spirit to your side and you will stand amazed.

God has given gifts to many,
Some have not used them properly.
Others are glorifying His wonderful name
In all they do. Praise God!

It is amazing what God can do when you ask
In faith and belief through prayer.
You cannot help but wonder and be in awe
Of the God of our lives, who is so powerful,
Yet chooses to be so gentle. I stand amazed!1

Footnotes
This is one I wrote and had the honor of reading at the dedication of a church renovation. The spire was amazing and that is the genesis of I Stand Amazed.

Rhonda, A Collaborative Christmas Acrostic
A Cheryl's Pals Collab
by Steve Cope
12-21-2008
UPDATE: See below collab for the Acrostic part
FEATURED: An awesome Acrostic Tribute is displayed at the bottom. PatrickB is the Bomb!

This must be karma, or some sort of sign.
When I awoke in the sky I did see a bright shining star.
Merry Christmas to one and all
In snow drifts of white we slip, slide, and fall .

Aware of the true meaning of Christmas you must be
Rolling in snow heaven and having a ball
Is fun but not the reason we say Merry Christmas.
Building an igloo with icy walls

And shoving our feelings away from the world. We should
Make joyful memories for the future to recall
Instead more often than not we miss the greatest gift of all.
In exchange for the trinkets and baubles from Jared.

Playfully laughing through the snowdrifts of fall
Red rosy cheeks from winter's stinging kiss
We can see, hear, and feel life coursing through our veins, I wish to
Give loved ones far away much love and a call
Twenty-0ne years ago in a small (at the time) town called Oak Cliff
In the church where Jesus showed me my love for all time,
We did meet and for six months I was petrified to say what He told me.
'THIS IS YOUR WIFE." Those were the words I heard in my heart.

Peace On Earth and good will toward men;
Is more than wishful thinking. It is His sole desire for His creation.
A Christmas Eve wedding will make you mine
oh yes it did, Christmas day actually!
Collecting all the joys I can find, I put my memory on rewind and you're everywhere.

Excited and filled with longing thirst,
with joy and excitement my heart could burst
"Rhonda, will you marry me"?
I did ask on September 5 (p.s. she said yes!).

Ho Ho Ho, I'm here to Rhyme,
To share my Prose at Christmas Time
To make your heart joyful with verse,
to lighten the chill of winters curse

And to tell you true that it's oh so right
Christmas miracles can come true when you do things aright.
Family was not so gleeful and yet we knew
What God has put together, let no man put asunder, is for us anew.

I knew an Ebeneezer who recited this rhyme
Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
Peppermint candy and cheese for the mice
warm as a flickering flame, cold as ice

Such a cool rhyming scheme this does ring
To a close soon and very soon this collaborator will bring.
Surviving stormy weather
and it would seem a flurry of feathers.
To this day we stand and stand we will forever more.

Christmas lights shining bright
Santa hidden and out of sight.
It's just me and you on this night
Let us say to one and all Merry Christmas
and to all a blessed New Year!

This collab officially ends here and beloved the collaborators are among the finest crew one could ask to assist in creating a 21st anniversary collab.
Lady 'Cheryl',Colleen, A-Rhodi, sheila A, Rubylightening, Michelle K. Jimmy B, LadySeda, RJL&MissMolly, Cherry Rose and your servant in Christ Copenator out!

Royal and regal is the color purple.
Highly sought after in the time of Christ.
Only the richest and most noble could come up with the price.
Now here in the 21st Century purple is bountiful and yet still as regal.
Don't you know that this Christmas
Acrostic is for you

Rhonda my purple princess?

Merry Christmas, happy anniversary and happy New Year to you from your hubby and friend forever more.
Copenator
servant in Christ.

Rhonda in the Welsh means "beloved" and that is what you are to me.
Your Scripture verse is found in Jeremiah.
"Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord, God of hosts." (15:16).

===================== ===================== ===================== ============

Beloved this is the review by PatrickB who responded in Acrostic form and just blew me away.

I am not a professional copy editor. These are my opinions as a reader and lover
> of words
>
> I really liked your acrostic poem.
>
> Rhonda seems to be a great subject
> Especially dressed in purple
> And with "Red rosy cheeks from winter's stinging kiss."
> Long it was, but warm, playful images abound,
> Like sitting around a fire with friends on a cold, winter night.
> Your acrostic effort, here, does give much hope to this popular style.
>
> Let me begin by talking about conventions.
> I enjoyed your use of winter imagery and Christmas reason-for-the-season reminders.
> "Karma" you claimed to start your poem,
> Energizing your snowy sentiments with the dogmatic powers of the cosmos.
> Do I even have to list the religious references here? Reason for the season indeed!
>
> You spend much time on a wedding in the middle.
> O, what a tribute to an important day; your wife must be so proud of your words!
> Understanding how important our loves are is such a universal theme!
> Rhonda must be really special indeed, to have such poetic words spring to your mind.
>
> As I settle into this review, I am reminded of the lovely playfulness of words.
> Can't we just do anything with them?
> Run them through normal or cast them around brazenly.
> Our only requirement to send them spinning is an unity of expression.
> Steve, you do this admirably by creating an atmosphere of past winter memories,
> Together with faith's mighty shroud, blanketing the festivities.
> I am in awe of how the collaboration did so well to summon me to snowy lands,
> Calling me out into a wonderful poetic wonderland.
>
> "Peppermint candy and cheese for the mice" is my favorite line!
> Opinions may vary, it's all subjective, but this is mine.
> Even adding it to the familiar "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice"
> Means more lovely words for that playful arch-phrase.
>
> The above is a tribute-review to an excellent example of word-play. The white sheet is
> but our sand-box, and we dig and build and destroy at will. Well done, wordsmiths!
>
> Thank you so much for sharing your acrostic with me! They are fun
> aren't they?
>
> Regards,
> Patrick
>
> My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Go Noticed" .

This is the result of yet another hymn that has been sung many times in our church. Each time I've heard the song the Lord has nudged me a little more and has finally come to a head in the culmination of an acrostic the size of which I have only surpassed on one other occasion, to the best of my knowledge, when I did the Alphabet of Christ in 2 parts from A to Z. I'll send you a link to that if you wish through email or may post it here if there is enough feedback to do so.

Better is One Day?
by Steve Cope
02-15-2009

Better are thousands of days in Your presence than one
day anywhere else. How can we be satisfied with one day
in Your house when there are thousands of days that are
still available? Better are thousands of days in Your presence
than any other day outside Your presence.

Better are thousands of days, a virtual
Eternity within Your presence and
Then the next gets only better and
Truer, so that when we are in the world
Everyone says, "there goes one who
Revels in the presence of the Lord."

A day in Your presence; in Your house;
Requires a desire to press closer in. An
Even longer time in Your presence is

The desire of my heart oh Lord.
Here Lord is my pen, ink, fingers, and hand
Open and at Your bidding; ready to
Unfold before You the meager possessions.
Solid and tangible, and the Spiritual essence.
All that is me Lord, You have created and
Now Lord we are in this land You have laid out. We
Do seek to know more of You and Your
Servants will be at the ready to meet You for
Better Are Thousands of days in Your presence
than one day elsewhere.

Oh Lord, mighty is Your love and grace, You
Favor us with Your presence this day and

Dear Lord we seek and bask in Your
Amazing presence and lift our praise to
You, for You are worthy of all honor,
See now Your children calling you GREAT!

In total adoration and acceptance of Your love
Newer are Your miracles every day and

Yes we can step forward into the world with
Only Your full armor upon us and with
Unction in our hearts to let others know the
Redeemer seeks to have unbroken fellowship anew.

Placing the Son upon the cross, You knew was necessary
so eternal life may be possible.
'Rapped in swadding clothes oh so frail the
Eternal Savior took His place in the plan and
Served You with heart, soul, mind and body.
Every day we hear this story, how much more
New is the desire to also serve our parts in the
Creator's plan. For Better Are Thousands of Days in
Your Presence.
Ever Lord will Your servant seek

To find new ways to enter into Your presence.
Holy Lord, as we walk among others may
A sense of Your presence lead them to wonder,
"Now what makes him/her smile like that?"
Better Are Thousands of Days in Your
Presence Than

One day elsewhere, and Your servant in Christ
Now asks the question, beloved! Have you
Ever wondered what it would be like to be in His presence
not one day, or week, or even month, but thousands of

Days in His wondrous presence?
All of your desires and concerns will shift to seeing
Your fellow man through the eyes of God.

Each man, woman, and child becomes precious,
Loved, and worthy of the respect and care God sees in His creation.
Seeing others through His eyes changes your perspective and
Even your outlook on life will change. There
Will be the desire to
Help others see His love for them and boldly follow God's plan
Even if it causes you to step out of your comfort zone and
Relieve the needs of others in far away lands, or at the
doorstep of your nearest homeless shelter.
Elevate your perspective, beloved, look into His face, you will see too

Better Are Thousands of Days in Your Presence Than One Day Elsewhere.

Finger Food
by Steve Cope
03-09-2008
Revised 02-03-2009, 03-27-2009

I am a monster
or so they call me.
I was once a man,
just like you I had a life.

The townspeople were just so unforgiving,
The day they discovered what I had to do.
My life was normal and I felt good about myself
And the townspeople would greet me so warmly.

It's amazing how things change so quickly,
One day you are a normal guy scraping by
And the next your life is turned upside down
By an act you saw no other choice but to make.

One day I was hungry
and there was nothing in the fridge.
You see I am very poor and
all too often the cupboard is bare.

I went out looking for a rabbit or mabye a deer,
But what I spied on the road was not an animal.
There was a man who lived in our town for decades,
He had no friends and no relatives, the last of his line.

At first I thought he was just sick and passed out
For in the bar or on the road he did live and subsist on alcohol.
I shook him and called out his name many times.
"Elrod! Elrod! Get up!" I cried, but no movement was made.

My stomach was growling so much,
My hunger it was about to consume me.
Elrod was gone from this world and I was hungry, don't you see?
Can you know where I am going with this, or must I spell it out?

I said a prayer over his loss and I did grieve because
In his own way, Elrod was a good man,
It's just that he was alone and I thought no one would care.
He would not take care of himself because he gave up hope long ago.

The first thing I prepared were his hands,
Finger food it was but sustenance was my goal.
Oh the taste at first took me aback
And then I looked around and saw how much I lack.

I had heard about those who ate their companions after a plane crash.
I had heard a story of a town that had to eat each other to survive.
I remember that there are still cannibals who do what we see as impossible.
I have to do what I must, to assuage this burning hunger.

I'm hungry, you see, and I do not have any money.
I'm poor, you see, and the cupboard it was bare.
Now there is something in the fridge
And now there is something in my belly.

I am not a monster
like so many would say.
I am hungry you see,
And that is why Elrod did not need a grave.

Now when the town found out that Elrod was no longer around,
they kept wondering what could have happened to him.
The suspicion turned to me, because of my healthy look.
I finally confessed, telling them all I did, and their ridicule began.

I'm just hungry and now the cupboard is bare,
I haven't been able to find a job because I'm a monster
In the eyes of these my former friends,
And I need to find sustenance again.

Oh my, oh me, what's that up the road?
It's not a rabbit for it's too big.
It's not a deer for it's too small.
What could it possibly be?
Finger food anyone!

The Soldier
by Steve Cope
01-31-2009
A Contest entry at P2S
Original title from Norma #2733 01-10-2009

The soldier looked to his right and saw the sun lowering.
He knew it would soon set and then the cold would intensify.
Everytime the sun set he steeled himself against the

Searing cold and hunkered a little deeper into his jacket.
On watch, there is no place to go and all atention is needed.
Looking over his appointed territory with skilled eyes and
Deft detection of anything out of the ordinary.
From out of nowhere the grenade landed,
Edging to a stop mere yards from the children
Reveling in the past few weeks of quiet and peace.

Panic broke out amongst the children but The Soldier; out of sheer instinct; scooped the grenade up and threw it in the direction of the forest. In mid-air the explosion ocurred, and it was warm for a short while afterward.

The children cheered because
They were saved and clambored
To and fro, thanking the soldier for his protection.

In the forest an enemy soldier cries out
And falls to the ground from the tree,
Where she had thrown the grenade.
The concussion of the blast stunned her and now

She finds herself being attened to
By the medics of her enemy.
"Why are they being kind and gentle to me?"
The girl asked not understanding,
For she so purely hated them.

The Soldier walked up to her,
Temporarily releived from his post
To attend to the ringing in his ears.
And the two just locked eyes for a moment.

The enemy soldier; this girl so fragile and afraid;
Feared the worst yet received the care she needed.
The Soldier said the one thing that
Changed her outlook, all in a single moment.

"I forgive you."
With those words the
War was over for the enemy soldier.
And she rested knowing she would not return to battle.

The Soldier; back on post;
Surveys the territory with trained eyes.
Looking to his left, he spies a sliver of brightness
And knows his duty will soon be ended,

For you see today The Soldier goes home,
His duty done and country served,
Lives saved
Lives changed all in a days service.

Magic, Mystery and Mayhem Too
A Monday Magical Mystery CPCCC
by Steve Cope
02-02-2009

The innaugural edition of a new forum at the CPCCC
With Lady Seda

Magic is in the air,
Can't you feel it without a care?
When the days get too long and
The woes of the hours become too moribund,
Just take a deep breath and smell,
The magic in the air.

When the sun beams down on your hair
And the cheeks you have are so fair
Won't you please my chickadee incline your ear
For I have to say there is magic in the Air!

What amazing things can happen
When upon the wonders of the world you do ponder
You could be inspired to run willy nilly never mind the mishappen.
Or better yet you could yell and say "Hey over yonder

Don't you feel the magic in the new born day?"
What a marvel and what a land of opportunity in our way
That magical moment when from the snoring you do awake
And realize that once again the Lord has blessed with a blank page.

Oh the mystery of it all, what to do from beginning to end?
Which way to go. Does duty call, or does upon another each moment depend.
Oh the marvel, the wonder, the potentional that is before us.
Will today be the day we can finally stop taking the bus?

Oh the mystery, oh the wonder of it all. Listen to the phone
It's ringing, it's blaring, "why won't it leave me alone!"
Oh, hark! Listen carefully! A bird does call out unto me.
"Come, come (insert your name here)and I will take you out to sea."

Oh the wonder, oh the amazing dazing thrill of it all
What day can we take and make our own? I'll tell you Monday call
My day of mystery, magic and mayhem. Go ahead and give it a go
Chunk the day at work (if only we could afford it) and play in the snow.

Oh the wonder, oh the mystery, oh the magic of it all
Won't you take this day and into it place everything and fall
Peacefully to sleep in the even time, because you have had a blast
And filled another day with magic, mystery, and mayhem at last.

Oh the magic, oh the mystery, of the mayhem we could wreak
If only were it not for the real world in which we live
Pulling us back into reality Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, the whole darn week!
Oh but do not despair for on any given day to fantasy you can cleave,

For wherever there is paper and ink, or cyber paper and pen,
There will always be a way to bring a little joy, magic, mystery akin
To joy and mayhem too if the muse so strikes we who call ourselves writers.
Won't you join me in this day, this day of magic, mystery and mayhem?

Oh the mayem, the mystery, the magic
With pen and ink white, yellow, brown our even magenta whee!
The day can turn into whatever you wish and still live in the package
Called life here on the planet earth where I have to go wee!!!!!!!!!

Oh how grateful this writer is for the gift
Oh the magical mystery that was given by He.
As a sickly little boy the books were plied,
As my family outside did play inside I did lay.

Covered in crossword puzzles and sci-fi and
Oh the many places I did go, even when outside I was far from.
Oh the magic and the wonder to see Mars through the eyes of John Carter.
Oh the mayhem I did read and imagined I was there in the midst.

Oh the magic, oh the mystery, oh the mayhem we are all able to wreak
Pray though does this servant in Christ that each new day of every week
We will seek to uplift and to elate
Before the world comes to an end and it's too late.

Oh the magic, the mystery, the mayhem
The Lady Seda has unleashed with the new Magical Monday.
Lord in Your mighty way may You cover and watch over those who come
And bless them for using their talents to cheer, elate, and cause
such wonderful magic, mystery, and mayhem.

A Birthday Acrostic

So it's your birthday,
Unbeleivably a little birdy did say.
"Don't you know; Copenator; a friend of yours
On this world of Facebook has a birthday!"

"No I did not know that,
You let me know just in the nick of time. What
Might I do for one who has everything?
I know, how about an acrostic that spells
Sudo Nym, and a wish for many more years
in this world on which we reside."

Sudo Nym this is your birthday acrostic and with it comes wishes for a good day and many more years to come.

Beloved:

What you are about to read, should you decide to continue, is the result of your servants attendance at church this morning. As is often the case a song that we did in worship touched me and one phrase in particular has stricken a cord once again in my heart "Worthy Is the Lamb". The Lord began formulating in my mind the first leg of the acrostic worthy is the Lamb and this early Monday morning He gelled this beginning into the final part of the acrostic Worthy are the Children.

This is a treatise if you will and within is an appeal to you as human beings to read and listen to the words with your heart and to make a decision that will effect the future of this world. It may seem controversial, the issues that are taken up, but understand this. The world is alive with controversy for it is how so many changes have been wrought, from the throes of differing opinions to arrive at a consensus that is good for the whole and not just for the one. Read on beloved and know a crossroads is being reached one short day away and we must needs be prepared and ready to make a choice. What will yours be?

Worthy Is the Lamb, Worthy Are the Children

Will the world ever come to realize?

Or will it forever doubt and look away?

Righteous and glorious is the Lord.

Taken unto a hill of death and derision

He was beaten, mocked, and spat upon.

Yet in the terror that others would have seen, what did He see?

In the eyes of the crowd He saw mixed emotions it is true.

Sinners all and yes there were some who believed in Him oh so new.

Taking His place with no resistance

How can it be that man can be so cruel to his fellow man.

Every year 40 million babies are aborted and two-thousand years ago the

Lord was taken from those whom He desired to save.

Ah beloved, what have we done? Have we ended an uprising or placed a

Martyr upon this cross? The children who will lose their lives will never know the

Blessed touch of their Savior or feel the love of their mothers and fathers, in the name of choice!

Worthy is the Lamb, beloved and so are those who are in the womb. It is called Sanctity of Human Life people and we have lost that in the community that now covets convenience and lack of responsibility for what they have done.

Worthy is the Lamb to be praised for He willingly sacrificed Himself so others might be saved.

Oh that humanity would be willing to do the same to save those who have no voice.

Rightly formed and knitted in the womb are these beauteous creations.

Taken unto the Fathers presence before their appointed time,

Holy and sanctified because they did not have the choice to choose life or death.

Your servant in Christ; Copenator; does mourn for the loss of so many, for

Worthy were those who have been ended to be born.

A world that has grown cold and unfeeling can still be revived beloved.

Raise up the battle cry and walk through the things you have done,

Ever knowing that the child you carry has a purpose and

Worthy are

The children who have been conceived to be born.

Here in this day and age, a new president will soon be installed to preside.

Ever wonder what would have happened if an abortion occurred years ago?

Worthy are the

Children beloved because one chose to carry through birth and we now

Have a new president to preside over the U.S.A.

In agreement with him or not, as Americans we are called to support this

Leader of a country that has been silenced on so many fronts.

Dearly beloved in the world wide web who read these words, surely you

Realize by now that life is important because you are reading

Even now this plea to all who will listen and understand with all their hearts,

Near or far or even in another country it is the plea of this servant who was allowed to be born to consider well and know that

Worthy is the Lamb to be praised and Worthy Are the Children to be born!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serving Him by serving you,

Copenator out!
