Daily scribbles on writing and living. How to get rid of cobwebs in my brain. CLOSED.

I am over the moon with joy this morning, as I got an anonymous gift from a co-writer on WdC. I can set up a blog for the coming three months since someone paid for an upgrade. If you ever read this Anonymous One, thank you so much!

Many thanks to "Request An Upgrade From RAOK [E] I got an upgrade for two more months. That will enable me to write and review some more in order to earn my keep after that. *BigSmile*

I have to think about this for a moment. Don't want to rush it, don't want to solely vent or underestimate the value of a daily blog for my writing. So I will carefully try to explore what it will bring me.

“All my life, my heart has sought a thing I cannot name. Remembered line from a long-forgotten poem”
― Hunter S. Thompson, Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga

When I was a teenager, my little brother stole my journal out of my bedroom and read it. I was so disappointed and mad about his action, I destroyed my writing and have been struggling with the concept of conveying my inner thoughts ever since.

So, I will send my daily scribbles to the world. On How to get rid of cobwebs in my brain. To let in some air and rejoice.

For another clumsy attempt at writing, check out "All fingers and thumbs [18+].

As people who write things that can be seen on the internet, we understand how important grammar is. The real question that remains, however, is how sick are you of this guy?? Pace yourselves, 'cuz there's a lot goin' on in there.

As a global citizen I am appalled by the choice of words of this man. Words can be weapons and that is the case here. He divides and polarizes the world into camps. That’s not good at all. Furthermore, his actions so far are very dangerous. I think he is a bad choice for the position he is holding. I am very much afraid for the future. Although I am not an American citizen myself, I fear for a President that is interacting with the public through tweets. He is a populist.

The best tweet I read was: A 70-year old man who watches 6 hours of TV a day, plays lots of golf, and always seems to be in Florida is a retiree not a President. (@Jason Kandor).

In my country, we have a populist party with a man that has similar thoughts as this American President. In the polls, he is doing great, unfortunately. In a fortnight we have elections here, I am holding my breath. *Sad*

Creation Saturday! Who hears you when you scream?

I live alone, so nobody in my immediate surroundings will hear me when I scream but my dog. And although I didn’t make up my mind yet whether there is a God or not I think the Universe may hear me screaming. Perhaps something in that great All will resonate when somebody is screaming or crying or feeling pain. Since we are all connected somehow there is a chance that individual screams come together somewhere.

The only time I remember screaming was in one of my bad nightmares years ago. I screamed for my mother as I recall. A few dreams were very overwhelming and from somewhere deep down inside of me came that scream “Mummy”. I usually woke up after that. It happened a few times. What it meant in that dream, why I screamed for her I don’t know but it had to do with feelings of insecurity, I guess. I normally don’t dream with audio or a voice, my dreams are silent. So it stuck with me that I cried out in some of my former nightmares. Luckily I don’t have nightmares anymore.

Fun Fact Friday! On this day in 1903, Barney Gilmore of St. Louis, Missouri was arrested for spitting. What's one of the dumbest things you've ever gotten in trouble for?

As a dog owner I know that I have to clean up after my dog’s poop. I always have plastic bags with me. But I sometimes ignore that because I am lazy. And sometimes I don’t pay enough attention.

But this particular walk I saw my dog doing his work for the day on a grass strip. I looked up and saw two people walking towards me, they looked like pedestrians and I thought nothing of it and walked passed them. That’s when they addressed me with: “Ma’am, can we ask you something?” So I thought they wanted to ask a silly question about my dog, the way to the mall or the time, whatever. Instead, they said: “Why didn’t you clean up after your dog? You know it’s mandatory?” And they took out their notepads and stuff. It so happened they were undercover plain clothing policemen just passing by. I felt really stupid because I had a plastic bag with me but just didn’t use it that particular time. It cost me a sixty euro fine. I wasn’t happy, but it sort of was my own fault.

That was an expensive poop!

Tell us about a time that you failed hilariously at something.

I take my failing at anything rather seriously, so the word ‘hilariously’ is never an option. It’s been never quite that amusing, to be honest. I suppose it has something to do with me not being the merriest of persons. And I’ve failed at a lot of things over the years.

But I can remember me failing time and again for my driver’s license. All those times I passed the theory exam but failed at the practice exam until I finally got the hang of it and got my driver’s license.

I was twenty-one at the time and not amused about myself not passing. Three times my then-boyfriend was there with a bunch of flowers to celebrate and every time I had to tell him I hadn’t passed. I felt like a loser, hell, I was a loser. But I was so nervous every time that one time I didn’t remember the difference between left and right and took the wrong turn. The next time my teacher was in the back seat signaling and trying to help but desperately failed in doing so, making me more nervous with two people looking over my shoulder, and the final time I made a mistake in traffic. But the fourth time I passed and I loved driving a car after that.

Because at present I don’t own a car I miss driving. It gave me freedom of movement and it meant the world to me to just sit in my own car and drive off to whatever destination. Maybe in the future I will buy myself a car again. For now I use my driver’s license as an ID and I travel by public transport. *Smile*

War Chest Wednesday! Is trying to colonize other planets for human settlement a good or bad idea and why? If it's good, what steps would you see having to take to go into something so big? If bad, what should we do with space programs besides replacing satellites every few years?

What an interesting question to begin the month of March! But I feel a little ambivalent about it.

There are two sides to this question: First I think it’s inevitable we spent money, energy, manpower and research into space programs. It touches the very question of our being in this universe as humans and perhaps it gives us an opportunity for a future in the long run as a species. Therefore I am in favor of colonizing other planets for human settlement.

But I also think it’s sprung out of bad behavior of us humans, we don’t take very good care of the planet we have, Earth. I think we are speeding towards the extinction of the earth because of the bad way we deal with other species and the environment (and with each other). I think in the end we don’t make it and the earth will be destroyed or unfit to live on because of our own doing.

Perhaps trying again on other planets with the knowledge we have will become the only answer for us, humans to survive. With the risk of screwing up those other planets as well. *Sad*

In an ironic twist, a dog really ate your homework. When you try to explain this to your teacher she says, "Come on, you can do better than that excuse." Instead of arguing, you take that as a challenge and come up with an elaborate story as to what happened to your homework. There will be an additional drawing for a merit badge for the most creative entry. Let us hear it.

I wrote a haiku sonnet for today’s prompt.

You're starving. You've only got $3 and some loose change on you. It's gonna be at least eight hours before you're home or with anyone who can spot you some extra cash. The only place around is a gas station convenience store. What is your go-to food/drink option? Be prepared to defend your choice...you're all a talented bunch of bloggers and I expect to see lots of questions and debates in the comments!

I wouldn’t do a hold up in the convenient store, but I’d be tempted, for sure! Three dollars in your pocket for eight hours is not much.

But I would buy 8 bananas (1 kilo) for 1 dollar, one banana per hour. I would spend 1,90 dollar on a loaf of bread that has 24 slices. So I made myself two double banana sandwiches per hour. Conveniently, I would have a plastic jerry can in my car (a clean one), that I would fill with water from the basins in the toilet of the convenient store. I would take a paper cup from the coffee counter and drink only water in those eight hours. For that last 50 cents change I have, I would go to the toilets to have a pee or a poop before heading home.
Luckily, I have enough gasoline in my tank.

What an ordeal!

Prompt: Tell us a little bit about your WDC handle/username. Is there a story behind it? Are you personally named after someone, family or otherwise?

I go by three names. My WdC handle is WakeUpAndLive️~🚬🚭2024 named after a song with the same name by Bob Marley.

"Wake Up And Live"

One, two, three, four!

Wake up and live, y'all,
Wake up and live!
Wake up and live now!
Wake up and live!

Life is one big road with lots of signs,
So when you riding through the ruts, don't you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!
Don't bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality, yeah!

All together now:
Wake up and live (wake up and live, y'all),
Wake up and live (wake up and live),
wake up and wake up and live, yeah! (wake up and live now),
Wake up and (wake up and live) - wake up and live!
Rise ye mighty people, ye-ah!
There's work to be done,
So let's do it-a little by little:
Rise from your sleepless slumber! Yes, yeah! Yes, yeah!
We're more than sand on the seashore,
We're more than numbers.
All together now:
Wake up and live now, y'all!
(Wake up and live) Wake up and live!
Wake up and live, y'all!
(Wake up and live) Wake up and live now!
You see, one - one cocoa full a basket,
Whey they use you live big today: tomorrow you buried in-a casket.
One - one cocoa full a basket, yeah, yes!
Whey they use you live big today: tomorrow you bury in-a casket.

W'all together now:
(Wake up and live now!) Wake up and live! Oh! Yeah-eah!
(Wake up and live!) Uh!
(Wake up and live now!) Wake up and live!
(Wake up and live) Keep on playin'!
(Wake up and live, y'all) Uh! Yeah! Yeah!
(Wake up and live!)
(Wake up and live now!)
(Wake up and live!) Break it down!

[Saxophone solo]
Come on, man!
How is it feelin' over there?
(Wake up and live now) All right!
(Wake up and live!) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Uh!
Come on, man!
You gotta wake up and live!

Life is one big road with lots of signs, yes!
So when you riding through the ruts, don't you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!

I was not planning on participating in the 30-Day Blogging Challenge for February. But I’ve changed my mind. So I am going to participate on a random basis. Each day I will watch the forum to see if the prompt is appealing to me, and if I do have time I will write my blog (and pay the fee). I just couldn’t resist all the plugging for this February’s 50/50 fundraiser event. *Heart*

Motivational Monday! Former US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, born on this day in 1882, once said "I'm not the smartest fellow in the world, but I can sure pick smart colleagues." How important to your success (in any part of your life) is it to surround yourself with talented, knowledgeable, and/or fun people?

It’s always been important in my various jobs as a psychologist, a teacher or a counselor to surround myself with talented, knowledgeable and fun people. It made me sharp and molded me into the person I am now.
But discovering WdC with all those talented writers has been the discovery of a lifetime. Especially the fun part has never been as important as right now while interacting here. I have learned so much and am having so much fun writing, reading, reviewing and socializing. Without those other writers, I couldn’t progress the way I do. My sincere thanks to all of you.

This will be my last blog for this coming period. I have only time for a few writing projects and the Rising Stars Project and the Grammar Garden eat away my time at the moment. So I take a break from blogging. Hopefully, I will miss it that much so that I will join again as soon as possible. In the meantime: have fun and write on. Take care!

The Sunday News! Please, I don't care what you want to talk about today, just no politics. Find a story that makes you feel good about the world and tell us about it.

As a dog owner and a dog lover, I was totally in awe with this uplifting news from Turkey. As it is winter time in Istanbul and very cold outside they let stray dogs sleep overnight in a mall to hide from the cold. They put blankets out for the dogs and fed them so they would be warm and with a full stomach during the night.

https://www.sunnyskyz.com/good-news/1999/This-Mall-Lets-Homeless-Dogs-Sleep-Insi...

Since Turkey is frequently in the news for terrorist attacks or a political unstable situation regarding its presidency I found this wonderful news. It made my day.

Creation Saturday!Pick one of the following scenarios and expand on it: 1) An animal you can humanely wear while it's still alive; or 2) A house you can live comfortably in that is made entirely of edible materials.

An animal you can wear while it’s alive is a snake as a shawl. Of course it has to be a snake that’s not dangerous for obvious reasons. I saw a fashion show a while back where the models wore snakes around their necks on the catwalk. It was a very bizarre sight and they did it for publicity reasons obviously.

Snakes make me a bit nervous, although I am not really afraid of them. My late mother was so afraid of snakes that the mere sight of them on television or in a magazine caused her trouble. But she had experienced them in real life when she was a child in Indonesia. There she had several encounters with them and had eaten them as well. She really developed a snake phobia in her adult life.

Fun Fact Friday! On this day in 1926 a Scottish inventor named John Baird demonstrated a pictorial transmission machine called the television. Do you remember seeing your first television...the one your parents had when you were a kid? What were some of your favorite shows? Do you still watch any of the old programs you enjoyed as a teenager?

The first television I remember was when I was 5 or 6 years old. I watched the opera Carmen for the first time in black and white. One of my favorite shows as a teenager was Star Trek. I watched every episode of the show and watched it again when I was an adult. It triggered my love for Sfi in movies. I have watched Star Trek ever since and am watching the new movies every time they appear on screen. Although the original Star Trek is slow and somewhat funny with its special effects I still am a great admirer of Captain James Kirk, Dr. Spock, Scotty and Leonard Mc Coy. The special effects have turned out bigger and bigger and are awesome in the new movies, but it started out with those early days in the 60/70ties.

I believe in miracles although I have never seen one happening. But my health is not good at the moment, and I am feeling exhausted and down for a couple of months now. Talk Tuesday! If you had a "spirit animal" that wasn't an animal, what would yours be? (Pretty sure mine's a burrito in case anyone asks, but no one is and I could be totally wrong *Laugh*). And what would you think some of your fellow bloggers' "spirit animals (that aren't animals)" are?

I am not sure what a spirit animal that isn’t an animal really is, but when I think of some of my fellow bloggers I think of paintings.

Apondia is like The Potato eaters of Vincent Van Gogh, down to earth.
Schnujo is Late to Lannister is like Guernica of Pablo Picasso with the devastation of war.
SB Musing is like The Scream of Edvard Munch, she hits me with her profound speech.
Prosperous Snow celebrating is like the Mona Lisa of Leonardo da Vinci, mysteriously spiritual.

I would like to think of myself as Automat of Edward Hopper, silent and alone (at times).

Creation Saturday! Describe how any personality trait would/could look as a physical characteristic, and create a character who embodies or uses this to his/her advantage.

Of the 638 Primary Personality Traits I found I choose Attractiveness because it could look as a physical characteristic. It would embody appealing to look at like beautiful long hair, great eyes, sensuous mouth and a slim figure.

Julie was born and she was beautiful. All her life she was treated differently because people would love the way she looked.

The physical attractiveness stereotype is a tendency, described by psychologists, to assume that people who are physically attractive also possess other socially desirable personality traits. Stereotyping is the process by which we draw inferences about others based on knowledge of the categories to which they belong.

I can’t recall visiting an amusement park and stepped into a roller coaster in real life. It’s too long ago. I did visit a few virtually for 30-Day Blogging Challenge in Australia. It was fun to watch YouTube video’s and participate online in an amusement park. We were at the Luna Park in Melbourne on "December 21.
