I think some of the old dishes we learned from our grandmothers are on their way out because they take a little work. Also, the ethnicity of the prominent population plays a part. Here in California, Mexican and Asian foods are more prominent, unless you have connections to the old mining towns like Grass Valley, most people have never heard of pasties. I was raised on them but my husband thought pastry was only for sweet fruit pies so I rarely made them when he was alive.

We eat pasties in Montana. The old mining town of Butte was known for them throughout the region.

I do remember a steak and stilton pasty from Eyam, England (2011).

Oh my goodness! How beautiful this one is. I love the idea of the white flowers blooming in mockery of the cold. Such a lovely, powerful, and regal image, expertly portrayed.

And that internal rhyme!

This is lovely! I enjoyed the rhyme and the listing at the end and the way this read both as a poem and as a journal entry/note-to-self. (And I love how you wrote out the rules of your form so others can give it a try!)

I'm speechless and honored that you see something worth emulating in my poetry, but I also hope you know that I'm in awe not only of your knowledge but also of your great skill with language and imagery in your work.

I think being creative like Tink is an amazing thing to aspire to, as well.
