That's the way I'm leaning. Though it pains me just a bit to think that being a WdC member gives you a choice of what to read -- with pics or without -- but non-members are saddled with illustrations.

If only one gets pics, I'd vote for the public. It is more like a book than the interactive, and who doesn't like picture books? !

I'm not wedded to the use of illustrations, because yes, they will have to be taken down at some point. I've been doing it -- and will continue to do it for this branch -- just to gauge the response.

My thought at the moment is that if I do include illustrations in the future they will not be in every chapter, and that I will only post them in the either the public or interactive chapters, not both.

I'm not really a fan of including images in the interactive itself personally. I think it's cool to see some images on the forum from time to time, like the reference photos, but I really dislike the sudden incorporation into the interactive, especially given the likelyhood of them needing to be taken down at some point.

Wow! Looks great to me. If you wanted to publish an arc, these would be good to have for each chapter. But as you said, it would take up a lot of space in your port, max 250 images now unless we chip in and bump you up to premium for 1000 images.

Oh, yeah. The chapter was good, too.

It's alright. That is just an estimate - if one chapter was posted daily, it's achievable in 2 years even accounting for some days off - and one that benefits from multiple chapters and contributors adding to it. It's not an impossible goal and it's not a solitary goal either - yet it's an achievement nonetheless. (Which is what I wanted to remark. Very few interactives develop in such a way that they can boast over 4,000 chapters. That means you could read 10 chapters daily and you'd still be spoiled for choices after one year.)

Specifically - mentioning this isn't meant to put any pressure on you, but as a way to reflect, look back and say "who would've imagined this little story about a boy finding a magic book that allows transforming into others through physical means would grow into something huge?"

Two years would be an attainable target, assuming I don't vanish for six months again. But I'm not going to set it as a goal. I got this far by not paying close attention to how many chapters there are.

One Chapter, Two Polls

There's a post below thanking those who have sent me GPs over the last few months. Please don't overlook it!

Meanwhile, here's the first chapter in the new storyline. The first few chapters will be mine before rugal takes over for a bit.

Interactive: "Unscrambling the Omelet"

Public: "Unscrambling the Omelet"

The background: Will and his friend Caleb have been messing around with masks, and Will has really gotten himself into a mess. The long and short of it is that he and Caleb have been body-swapping some of their classmates, so that Will is inhabiting the identity of Dane Matthias (a cheerful stoner); Dane is inhabiting the identity of Gordon Black (the captain of the high school basketball team); and Gordon is inhabiting Will's identity. Will has now gotten crossways with Gary Chen, a vicious thug and drug dealer. But the latest spell in the book might give Will a way out.

Meanwhile, I am also running another series of "Blind Plinko" polls for this very storyline, but the polls are running a few days in advance of the chapters, so it will be Tuesday before you see the result of your vote in yesterday's poll. "Chelsea Cooper" won that poll ... and you get another chance to vote for "Chelsea Cooper" in today's poll: [Poll completed and deleted.]

Or maybe you'll use this poll as a chance to vote in another direction.

I have a second Blind Plinko poll for you as well, this one a continuation of the previous series I was running. It turns out that I had to rewrite one of the chapters and insert a new one into the sequence. So although choices in the last poll and the next-to-the-last poll remain the same, I need to insert a new poll into the series. Given the choices, I suppose it can also double as a general statement of preference: [Poll completed and deleted.]

Thank You to My WdC Patrons

Every time I finish a storyline, I mean to make a post thanking all the readers who have sent me in Gift Points, and every time I manage to forget. So I've got a bunch of people to thank. If you've been sending me Gift Points, and I've said nothing, believe me, it's not because I don't appreciate them. It's because I've been saving up to post my thanks, and then I get distracted.

Anyway, for the last several storylines I have to thank:

* Easy, who is constantly dropping 1000-point gifts on me.
* Tal, who dropped a big bag of points of me not too long ago
* AstralBot3D, who loved the branch where Will partnered with Maria Vasquez
* Sonicmetroid, who likes a lot of random chapters, which is especially flattering.
* HayateZero and Wordsmitty, who both really liked "Girl Meets Boy"

* that dude, forthefunofit, and Wolflord99, who each liked one chapter or other so much they just had to tell me about it with some GPs.
* and the anonymous person who sent a cNote with 1000 GPs.

Thank you, guy! The "tip" system that WdC created has done a lot to encourage me by giving you guys an easy way to express your encouragement.
