A weekly blog about international football.
Well, it was quite a week in the Premier League.

Manchester United was the main topic of discussion among media and fans.

After United lost 3-2 to Brighton on Sunday, (Aug. 19), football insiders were quick to criticize the team.

Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, predicted that Man. U's manager, Jose Mourinho, is not going to last the rest of the season. (read Aug 20 article - "Man. U's Manager's Job Is On The Line").

As the week went on, there was more mud slinging about the team and the players.

The latest, the fans plan to fly a banner at this week's game against Burnley, showing their dismay over Ed Woodward and the team's ownership.

Now to more positive news. Well, to me that is.

My team Chelsea is 2-0 after defeating Arsenal 3-2 on Saturday (Aug 18).

I have to say, though, Chelsea was lucky to win the match. The team allowed Arsenal to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit.

Chelsea plays Newcastle United this week.

Manchester City are on a roll. City hammered newly promoted Huddersfield Town 6-1.

Huddersfield are now 0-2 and is dead last in the Premier Division.

Good news for France's PSG. Despite not being in the starting line up, Kylian Mbappe scored his first two goals of the new season off the bench against Guingamp.

Finally this week, Germany's Bundesliga opens there season this weekend.

Tottenham's Title Hopes Are Now Slim.
February 28, 2019 at 4:10pm
Before I get to Tottenham, I got some transfer news to share. Aymeric Laporte has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City. Rumor has it that Barcelona is eying Manchester United star, Marcus Rashford. Also, Barcelona has Jordi Alba to a five-year contract. Now for the big shocker of the week. Tottenham lost to Chelsea yesterday 2-0. The loss means that the chances of Tottenham winning the English Premier League title this year are becoming slim. Tottenham&#... [Read more]
Sarri's Job In Jeopardy, Quarter-Finals Set
February 21, 2019 at 4:45pm
After promising results in the beginning of the season, Chelsea's manager, Maurizio Sarri's job is now on the line. Chelsea's performance lately on the pitch has been terrible lately. The team was humiliated by Manchester City almost two weeks ago and then the team was eliminated from the F.A. Cup tournament this past Monday by Manchester United. Football insiders are predicting that Sarri is not going to be manager next year. Speaking of the F.A. Cup., the quarter-finals... [Read more]
Legendary Keeper Dead At 81. Chelsea Now In Sixth
February 14, 2019 at 7:13pm
Unfortunately, I start off this entry with sad news. Legendary goalkeeper, Gordon Banks has passed away at age 81. Banks was a member of England's World Cup winning squad in 1966. In other news, Arsenal's midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, has signed a four year contract with Italian club, Juventus. Manchester City is now tied with Liverpool for first place in the English Premier League after a 6-0 over Chelsea. Sergio Aguaro had another hat trick. Two weeks in a row. Mancheste... [Read more]
This Week In Football Was The Cat's Meow
February 7, 2019 at 2:04pm
It was a wild and wacky week in football. The biggest story of the week had nothing to do with the play on the field. The Everton/Wolves match was disrupted by a black cat wondering its way onto the pitch. The cat refused to get off the field. It took five to ten minutes to chase away the feline. BBC Sports announcer, Steve Bower, remained calm, but still had a little fun with the incident. Chelsea made up for their terrible loss to Bournemouth last week by crushing Huddersfiel... [Read more]
Pelligrini Possibly On The Chopping Block
January 31, 2019 at 3:13pm
The big news this week is West Ham United and Manuel Pellegrini's future as team manager. On the weekend, West Ham was eliminated in fourth round of the F.A. Cup tournament by AFC Wimbledon, losing 4-2. A real stunning upset. To make matters worse for West Ham, the team lost 3-0 to Wolves earlier this week in a English Premier League match. As a result, rumors are now circling around the football world that Pellegrini's job is on the line. Another big upset in the F.A. Cup... [Read more]
The Search For Sala Called Off
January 24, 2019 at 2:29pm
Unfortunately, i start off this week's entry with devastating news. An aircraft, carrying Argentinian football player, Emiliano Sala, disappeared on Monday. Sala recently signed a contract with the English Premier League's Cardiff City. It was announced today that the search for Sala was called off indefinitely. The match of the week goes to Tottenham verses Fulham. Harry Winks scored the winning goal for Tottenham in stoppage time to give his team the 2-1 victory. Ther... [Read more]
Wagner Leaves Huddersfield. Heartbreaker in the F.A. Cup
January 17, 2019 at 3:05pm
David Wagner walked away as manager of Huddersfield Town this past week. I don't really blame him. The team has been horrendous this season, just winning a single match. I'm almost convinced that next year, Huddersfield Town is going back down to the Championship League next year. The heartbreaker of the week is Southampton getting eliminated from the F.A. Cup tournament yesterday by Derby County. Southampton went ahead 2-0 in the beginning of the first half. Derby tied... [Read more]
Fabregas Plays His Final Game For Chelsea
January 10, 2019 at 2:58pm
The big news in international football this week is Cesc Fabregas playing, quite possibly, his last game in the English Premier League. Despite the delayed departure, Fabregas probably played for Chelsea for the final time in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the third round of the F.A. Cup championship last weekend. Fabregas has signed a contract to play for the French league's Monaco. There were three upsets in the F.A. Cup. Three Premier League teams were eliminated from the... [Read more]

Bye Bye Jose
December 20, 2018 at 4:29pm
Well, to no surprised Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho this week. Everybody seen it coming. Man. U. sits in sixth place in the English Premier League table and are 19 points back of Liverpool. Fans have been complaining all season about how mediocre the team is this season and wanted a change. It was also no surprise that Mourinho had nothing to say the next day. Norway's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes over as interim manager until May of 2019. Another big story involving... [Read more]

His last match was on Saturday (December 1) against Manchester United. Southampton played to a 2-2 draw. Hughes has been Southampton's manager since March. As manager for eight months, Southampton has won just five matches in 27 games and are 18th in the EPL's table. A search ... [Read more]

The woes continue for Manchester United. The Red Devils played to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, a team Man. U. ought to beat. What's going on with Newcastle United? Newcastle defeated Burnley 2-1 on the weekend, winning their third straight game. Fulham's new manager, Claudio Ranieri, got started on the right foot. His team defeated Southampton 3-2. No word on Salah's status, but Mane had to have surgery and won't play this weekend. The timing of the two injuries is bad for Liverpool since the te... [Read more]

Just a few weeks ago, West Ham United was the laughing stalk of the Premier League, at the bottom of the standings and with zero points. Since then, West Ham has won two and has played to a draw. On Saturday (Sept. 29), West Ham defeated Manchester United 3-1. As for Manchester United, they're off to their worse start in 29 years with this loss. The Relationship Between Pogba And Maurinho is Getting Worse
September 27, 2018 at 4:31pm
This week, I have two big headlines. At the beginning of the week, I was all set to write about the big headline in Major League Soccer. Yesterday, however, a headline from the Premier League was making the rounds. What team was involved? You guess it. Manchester United. It seems that almost every week there's a story about Man. U. I decided to write about the Manchester United ordeal first, instead of the MLS story. Again, Paul Pogba opened his mouth earlier this week ... [Read more]

Two huge news stories in Serie A this week. Both involve Juventus. Cristiano Ronaldo finally broke through on Sunday against Sassuolo, scoring two goals in a 2-1 Juventus victory. Unfortunately, Ronaldo's performance was marred by an disgusting incident involving a fellow teammate. Near the end of the match, Douglas Costa spitted, elbowed and attempted to head butt Sassuolo's Federico Francesco. Despite an apology from Costa on Monday, he is banned for four Serie A matches... Last week it was reported that French football star, Paul Pogba isn't getting along with United's manager, Jose Maurinho. Speculation is that this is probably Pogba's last season with Man. U. It has been reported that Pogba wants to go to Barcelona after this season. More bad news for United. Luke Shaw is going to miss two games becau... [Read more]
Mbappe In Hot Water
September 6, 2018 at 4:11pm
Things got a bit heated in international football this week. The big news this week is the behavior of young Kylian Mbappe. In a match against Nimes earlier this week, Mbappe got a red card for shoving midfielder, Teji Savanier. Mbappe was reacting to a challenge by Savanier. Savanier also was red carded. Mbappe has no regrets, though. He said the day after the incident that he'd do it again. On Sunday, (Sept. 2), Manchester United's Marcus Rashford was red carded in a... [Read more]
