a brief introduction to my blog |
Hello, readers! I've decided to take the plunge and begin a blog both for fun and for writing practice. I titled this blog Moonglow's Meanderings because it will have no real focus. You might find notes on books I'm reading, writing tips and other random musings. Your thoughts and comments will be welcome as, even though I'm very new to Writing.Com, I've already learned a great deal from the friendly community here. I'll be back soon with my very first real blog post! |
I've always enjoyed creative writing and have messed around with it as long as I remember. I've written many journals, poems, short stories and long stories over the years, even having several published in books and magazines such as True Story, Woman's World and Country Woman. But now, something different and big is growing inside of me, which is the urge to write a novel. I've decided to begin writing my novel June 1 (2025). I already purchased a fresh notebook for the journey. Nothing special, the kind of notebook one would use in a schoolroom. And pencils, the mechanical kind so I don't have to stop and sharpen them if my writing is flowing. My only real plan or goal is to write one page a day because I work two jobs, and I need to be realistic about the time I can commit to writing. Plus, I'm in no hurry to complete the novel, although I have a rough estimate of one year's time to both write it and edit it. All that being said, I'm giving myself one week to nail down my idea, what my novel will be about. I'll keep everyone posted on how things are going on this blog, which will also serve as my own personal progress record. I'm really quite excited about this as I feel it's time to move forward in my writing and really get into developing a deep plot and interesting characters. If anyone else is planning to write a novel soon, I'd love to hear from you about when you'll be starting and the methods you'll be using. There are so many creative souls on Writing.Com and I hope a few of you are in the beginning stages like I am, feeling a little nervous but thrilled at the prospect of finally getting a book started! I look forward to your comments and suggestions and I'll be back soon with an update. |
