It is incredibly frustrating when the people put in charge of protecting your child fail.

I’ve spent my life learning how to fight—from my days in Jr. ROTC   dreaming of the sky, to the literal fight for my child’s life through HLHS  . I thought I knew what every kind of battle felt like. But today, I’m facing a different kind of "combat," and this one makes my blood boil in a way I wasn't prepared for.
My youngest son is being bullied at school. As a mother, your instinct is to go to the people in charge—the ones who are supposed to ensure a safe environment for our children. But instead of support, I was met with a wall. The Principal has decided that my son is the problem.
It’s the classic "gaslighting" of a child. When a kid is pushed, harassed, and poked until they finally react, the system often only sees the reaction, never the cause. They want to label the child who stands up for themselves as the "disruption" because it’s easier than actually dealing with the bullies.
Here is what I know to be true:
A reaction is not the same as a provocation. * My son’s spirit will not be broken by a system that finds it easier to blame the victim than to do the hard work of discipline.
I am still a fighter. If the school won’t be his advocate, I will be.
I’ve faced rock bottom   before, and I’ve learned that the loudest voices aren't always the right ones. We are navigating this together, and I won't stop until my son feels safe in the place where he is supposed to be learning.
To my fellow parents: Have you ever dealt with a school administration that refused to see the truth? How did you find the balance between staying calm and being the "mama bear" your child needs?
