Through the Fog

Summary: Our main character, Ellie, is enjoying her day off policework with a relaxing walk on the beach until she sees something on a boat through the fog that her factual mind struggles to believe.


The story begins...


Today was Ellie's one and only day off work. As the newest cop on the police force, she was stuck covering everyone else's vacation time and the stress was getting to her. Harbor, Maine wasn't the worst place to start off a career in law enforcement but there were many domestic disturbances she'd had to attend to lately and for the life of her she couldn't understand how two people who could profess to love each other could end up loathing each other. That was part of the reason Ellie remained single.

Ellie paused her walk for a moment to check out the ships in the harbor. It was a very foggy day, so when Ellie deposited her quarter into the binoculars she didn't expect to see much. But as the binoculars focused on the boat in the distance her heart beat wildly in her chest at the thing she saw.
