A word search about using homophones—words that sound alike but aren't.

One of the first lessons I taught my 9th-grade English class was the definition of homophones: words that sound alike but aren't the same. Some of my many lessons included spelling tests, vocabulary exercises, and Free Friday—a class period when we played grammar games, ran small contests, and participated in team writing relays.

By far, the most active participation and fun competition was the word searches. I wanted to make these special, so we only had them every other week.
