Whether you're tackling a brand new novel, making major progress on an existing project, or setting a new writing goal, every word brings you closer to your finish line.

Along the way you'll unlock Merit Badges, celebrate milestones with the community, and discover fresh daily writing prompts and optional activities to help keep your momentum going, even on days when inspiration is hard to find. There are no rankings, no pressure, and no wrong way to participate... just writers encouraging writers.

Marathon is completely free to participate.

Everything you need to complete Marathon is available to every member. Register, track your progress, earn Merit Badges, complete your goal, earn a portfolio awardicon, and celebrate alongside the Writing.Com community.

Members who choose to upgrade unlock additional Writing.Com tools, including Books, advanced organization features, and other writing resources, but upgrading is completely optional (see: Paid Memberships )
