What's keeping you away? Money? Transportation? Never heard of it before? What? |
OH YES, THERE WERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE... and I am not so proud to admit that I applied for a scholarship to attend and GOT ONE. I had to apply, write a very short explaination {limited word count}, and wait... There is an auction at the Conventions that helps fund the Scholarships for the next year. (Attendees bring stuff, then donate the items for the auction - well, I'm crafty.) Plus the payment plan is/was more than generous, allowing almost nine or ten months, I think, to pay for the whole thing - so all I had to do was figure out how to get there. Healthwise, I am prone to bloodclots and the doctors say it is a big risk for me to fly. (I really hate flying anyway.) There is always the train. (Gez, that costs nearly more than flying.) There is the bus. (That option makes me shiver, but still an option) I'm planning on driving, and I knew gas prices were going to be outta sight, but I don't want to get started on a Political Rant. I really should not be driving alone, but I have informed my husband that is EXACTLY what I will do. He is welcome to come with me. I was sick all of November and had emergency gall bladder surgery in December... worked out an affordable payment plan with those HOSPITAL VULTURES... and I have relatively good insurance, too. Then just last week my husband's ex-wife is causing us serious grief, and we had to hire a Texas lawyer (we live in Louisiana, and she lives in Texas - if you have legal trouble in Texas... you need a Texas lawyer) (So, I had to send a $1000.00 down payment - lawyers take payments too My husband thought that Texas lawyer business would keep me from going to the convention. HA - NOT!!! Beans and rice are cheap. Life is just too short, so I'm going to the Convention. I think this is a wonderful forum. I am also shocked that there are not going to be 70 people in attendance at the 2005 Convention. I still don't have a formal for the Ball, but maybe my fairy godmother will show up with one. Regardless, dress or no dress, I'm still going to the Convention. I think it is too late for anybody else to sign up to attend this years Convention... but it is just a simple matter of priorities, sacrafices, and budgeting...MY BEST ADVICE: START PLANNING NOW to attend the 2006 Convention. We are going to have a blast, and its a real shame y'all are going to miss it. Yes, of course, I'm serious... if I am anything, I'm serious!
