SLAM!

"Invalid Item" 


The teacher brought prizes for the first five;
mine had the biggest size though I was the second
'You're lucky; your gift is so nice', my first friend
commented though her game worth more than mine.
I was so content when I came home, but, telling mom
would not have made sense. She'd be happy but then
just say 'I'll hide it for you till final exam passes'
But I wanted to play with it, so I carried my one meter doll and
ascended the attic; my usual place to conceal my trace.

Mother was calling and searching for me
'Sure she is with her cousins,' my brother remarked
'or maybe she is hiding from a low mark' my sister claimed.
Provoked, my head appeared at once.
My mother bolted, her hands on her chest
'No bad marks, I took an A!' I screamed aloud
'And that's my present', I showed my beautiful doll.
My legs slipped but I was lucky, as everyone then said,
that my bulky doll fell before me protecting my body.

But still, under my chin was cleaved,
Mom was horrified and she shouted for dad
who in rush carried me worried to the hospital.
My tears were flowing mixing my blood
while I held tight my blood veiled dummy.
The gentle doctor with dad tried to ease my pain
and covered my eyes with a blue gauze and asked me to sleep.
After stitching my wound, he gave me some candies
as long as my tall doll and that soothed my shock.

Then, instead of only one, I've got bunch of presents
from siblings and friends, how great was that after all.
I forgot my ache and examined my gifts.
I named my adventurous doll 'Lucky'; it's old and withering now
but I keep it, for other than saving my life,
to remind me, when low spirited, about the 'lucky me'!
