I'd have to say most folks find it much easier to write free verse, it is poetry without restraint of rhyme and meter. I've also said many times on this site that if you write to form (rhyme and meter) then your free verse will benefit.

You're just coming at it from an unusual angle, you already have the rhyme thing down which means you're looking for language that'll work...but you're right, practice makes perfect!
