I think persistence in writing is the same as persistence in life. I wouldn't have been able to take on a new career late in life had I not been persistent to finish my schooling. I am finally a teacher, and loving it. I feel that just to finish my novel, will be the same way. I will love the finished product whether I ever am able to market it or not.
