Greetings and Prologues

I don't think I've properly introduced myself yet. My name's Bernidette and I'm a college student in Florida and have been trying desperately to find other friends who are as interested in writing as I am. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who actually cares about my ramblings on writing.

Aside from my introduction I do have a question. Do any of you think it's a good idea to put something important in a prologue of a story? How many people do you think skip the prologue when they read?
