Somewhere on some forum or other, someone asked a question about which tense to use when writing. He or she was using first person present and wondered if that was ok. I can't find the original thread but wanted to respond that I am now reading a novel, Abundance about Marie Antoinette, that is written in the first person present tense. It works surprisingly well. It gives a sense of immediacy and doesn't seem artificial at all.
Does anyone else remember this posting? I couldn't find it here or any of the other forums I usually hang out in.
