Well, in my opinion, good writing would make up for it. But the way I see it, all plot lines are cliche at this point. There have been many people who have complied lists of every plot line ever and the longest list I've seen has 36 plot lines. The least, 3.

I think if you're inspired by an idea go with it. Ideally, your passion and love for the topic will come through. As much as you think it's a cliche, you'll still be adding your unique voice to it and that should set it apart from all others.
