Two Shall Become One Poetry Contest

My "practice round" poem. I actually wrote this before you answered my question about the quote cuts in stanzas. I was so inspired with how the quote worked with my fantasy mythology that I couldn't wait. I look forward to doing this again next week. Anyway, here's the quote and poem:

"Only you and I can help the sun rise each coming morning. If we don't, it may drench itself out in sorrow."

Moon's Song to Earth

Only you and I,
in our daily dance through stars,
can help the sun rise.

Each coming morning,
as your children rise to toil,
I rest in your arms.

If we don't keep on,
as we have for all known time,
our loyal cycle

the sun would know.
in the resulting despair
It may drench itself

the light in the sky
and the magic in this world
snuffed out in sorrow.
