Two Shall Become One Poetry Contest

"Dreams have only one owner at a time. That's why dreamers are lonely."


Dreams have only
the barest grasp
on reality, as fainting hands
clasp straws to their hearts.

One owner at a time
for the night time land:
The controller, are they yours
or dream hands holding the reins?

That's why dreamers are
the last to leave the darkness
as their hearts search for
the caress of their fantasies.

Lonely souls dragged
from the sleeping land yearn
to continue the dreams,
and so return in waking wonderings.
