Fountain of Knowledge

I am calling all of you in other countries (I know there at least a couple of you), and anyone who's ever visited another country beside the US. I am moderately well traveled within the US, but alas have never been beyond the borders.

The problem is, I have a character visiting various countries throughout the world, and I don't know any more about them than what's online. And I don't want them to be the big cities either, the tourist traps (they can be, but I'm trying to stay away from that). I want them to be the suburbs and outlying small towns.

So, if you're familiar with one of these and you're willing to give me details - what the topgraphy is like, what the people there do for fun, what a typical afternoon/evening/weekend is like there, I would be very appreciative. No detail is too minor, I'd like to make it sound like this person is actually visiting these places.
