October Novel Prep Challenge

If you have got your character information down, take another look at it. Exactly why is he such a heel, very few are born heels.

Inferiority complex? Abuse? Environment that had lots of bad examples? Sociopath tendencies? Greed? Power hunger?

All of the above?

There is no black and white in writing any more. Even the darkest character can have a redeeming feature or features.

He could be evil to the rest of the world and yet dote on his own child. Or be passionate about keeping the last blue barnacled porpoise alive. The contrast enhances the evil.

You know your story best, if we can't find anything to like in your character, let us at least learn to hate him, from the very bottom of our hearts!
