I think what you're saying makes sense - but raises more questions. Amongst the similarities it shares to Sci fi/Fantasy - does that include a comprehensive plot? I'm not being facetious, I am curious. Does all of the insanity come together to make a beginning, middle, climax, and end?
Also, some of the stuff I've seen seems to rely alot on metaphor and symbolism amidst the chaos - is that a trait of the genre or the author?
