There is nothing wrong with being young. However, I would be challenged to write YA/MG, if slang is required. When I was very young, my cartoons were "Mickey Mouse," Jiminy Cricket" (That's where I learned to spell Encyclopedia), "Clutch Cargo" and "Space Ranger;" and they were in black and white. When The Wall came down, I was in my thirties.
I somewhat keep up on adult slang. When writing about the future and other worlds, I avoid using any slang. Can you write much YA/MG without using slang?
