I'm not rebelling, but I can see your point. If the stories are connected, isn't it the same as or close to a novel, a la House on Mango Street?
On the other hand, last May I tried a-story-a-day and found it even more difficult than NaNo. With NaNo, it is at least the same characters and storyline.
