I think most NaNo beginnings suck. That's the beauty of NaNo... you give yourself and your writing permission to suck - just for a month Once December gets here, one of the first things I do is cut out my entire first chapter. I was told to use this technique a long time ago, and I have to say it was really painful the first couple of times! But, now that I do it on a regular basis, it makes sense. It's like we spend our beginnings (especially in something written at this speed) "clearing our throats", if you will. We're still gearing up to write, but Nov 1 is here, so we write.
By the time Jan 1 gets here, you'll have your revisions well underway, and no one will ever know your originally beginning, written on Nov 1, 2010.... sucked. Don't worry. Just keep writing!!
