Take a deep breath and say, "It was only the first day." You'll have good days and bad days. If you can, you might sit down and refigure your daily goals. Take into account that you can't write on a few days. Just subtract those days from 30 and divide 50K by them. Voila! New daily goal. We had to do the same for my husband because he's missing a week.

Last year, I cranked 4K words on the first day. Yesterday? I didn't even hit 2K words. It was not a pretty day and was full of gnashing teeth and hair pulling to get my 1,946 words down. But! They're down! I'm sort of in the same boat as you... On weekends, my writing time is going to dwindle drastically. Of course, if I tell my hubby, "I'm writing," he'll understand. Oh, heck. He'll probably be writing with me! lol

He's currently "in the field" and is going to fall behind this week. He messaged me yesterday and said, "I'm so bored!" Me: "NaNoWriMo." Him: "You try writing in a bay full of 20 bored guys." Okay... he has a point. I couldn't do it with 3 bored kids. lol

So! Don't stress too much. Just write as much as you can, when you can. You might need to push harder that last day, but try not to check your word count constantly. That does nothing for your state of mind.
